SAT word of the day: actuary (noun) An officer, as of an insurance company,
who calculates and states the risks and premiums.
ADMINISTRATION
1. BART tickets are here for April. Please pick-up your tickets by April
19th. The next BART ticket orders will be taken on April 20th and 21st at
lunchtime only in room D224. Cash only--no checks.
2. Yearbooks are for sale after school in H102B for $80. They are no longer
for sale online. Please make checks payable to BHS Yearbook. Books are
going fast, students with free-reduced lunch will still receive a discount.

Post-prep time refers to the time after testing for teachers to return
their crates and supplies.
CLUBS
1. Are you a leader? Do you want to help humanity all over the world? Do
you want to be part of an international network? Join International Action
Interact club! There will be a meeting Wednesday, April 13th at the YMCA
PG&E Teen Center. The meeting will start at 4pm after school. Come for a
quick informational and see about our many leadership opportunities.
*2. The Philosophy Club meets on Wednesday at lunch in room C115! You won't
want to miss out!
SPORTS
1. Support BHS cheerleading. The girls are selling popcorn, over ten
different flavors. Snack bags are $6 and they have larger bags. See
Lanique Bryant in the dance room at lunch or in the cafeteria before school
starts in the morning from 8:00-8:30am. You can also ask for popcorn in
room D218.
2. Anyone interested in playing Basketball next year: there will be open
gym for boys starting Monday April 18, 2011. Every Monday and Wednesday
from 4-6pm in the gym. Hope to see you there. Coach Neill.
SENIORS
*1. Senior Prom tickets will go on sale on the Senior steps at lunch and
afterschool. Tickets will be $75 from until April 22nd! The theme of
Senior Prom is Oasis Nights at the SF Galleria on May 14th. Make sure you
get your ticket as soon as possible. Tickets sales are now also open to
juniors!
2. Mandatory Parent Meeting for Chicano/Latino Graduation on April 20th
from 6-7 pm in the Library.
COMMUNITY SERVICE
*1. Berkeley Arts Magnet School's annual BAM Jam fundraiser and carnival is
coming up on Friday, May 13th, and we are once again seeking BHS student
volunteers to run the carnival portion of the evening. Come run some fun
carnival games, enjoy a free dinner, earn volunteer hours if you need them,
and support a BUSD elementary school. Last year's carnival was a huge
success and completely run by BHS volunteers - we appreciate your help!
Volunteers needed on Friday, May 13th, 5:30-8:30 PM. To sign up, please

EVENTS
*1. This Thursday night, the Asian American Association of UC Berkeley will
be hosting a dance showcase. There will be performances from dance groups
from all over the Cal campus, with many different styles of dance, like
Swing and Hip Hop. The Showcase will be held from 8:00-10;30 pm at the
Julia Morgan Theatre. Doors open at 7:30 pm. This is the first time so many
dance groups from Cal will get together, be sure not to miss it!
