1. Berkeley City Council Honors BHS Girls Basketball Team

On March 29, 2011 the Berkeley City Council honored the BHS Girls Basketball
Team, rated fourth in the nation, for a great season that brought Berkeley
High School all the way to the State Championships. The girls also brought
BHS a record 10th NorCal Championship, under the direction of Coach Cheryl
Draper and her staff. See the photos on Flickr.com: [

2. On April 1, 2011 the Berkeley High School students Honored the BHS Girls
Basketball Team, rated fourth in the nation with a rally in the Donahue Gym.
The Seniors were recognized, and the team took on a number of challenges on
the court. Elisha Davis (led the Lady Jackets in the State Championships
with 16 points with four three-pointers) took on challenger Vice Principal
Vernon Walton and a student in the audience; Brittany Boyd took on another
student and the girls took on the staff and the boys varsity team in full
court competition. See it all in photos.

3. Berkeley High School's Black Youth in Crisis Forum Two

On March 19th, parents and staff mostly listened to students speaking of
their own experiences at Berkeley High School's Black Youth in Crisis Forum
Two. The organizers have done an incredible job of putting the two forums so
far together. These are just the photos of the event; we can look forward to
hearing more about the outcome from the BHS Parent Resource Center and the
District's Office of Parent and Community Partnerships.

4. Bay Area Media Icon Belva Davis visits Berkeley High School

Belva Davis visited Berkeley High School the last week in March and talked
to about 150 students about her role in bay area and national media, as the
first black woman in the world of television media. An icon in the field,
she clearly impacted the students with a strong message of what can be
accomplished when you don't give up.

5. Berkeley High School Dance to Advance in Life Friday April 1st, 2011 was
incredible. Photo sets one and two are my photo essay of the program. The
photos are somewhat extensive, but that is necessary to help the dancers &
choreographers review their work. Watch for the videos on YouTube soon.
