Winter Ball will take place on Saturday, February 12 from 7-11 pm in the
Jacket Gym. This year's theme, in light of Valentine's Day is "XOXO: Lovers
and Friends." The gym will be transformed into a classy and romantic space,
drawing on Parisian elements including a large model of the Eiffel Tower, a
fountain, old-style street lamps, and manicured plants.
Tickets are on sale now, sold from the steps of the Community Theater at
lunch and after school. The price of tickets for this week is $35. Next
week the price will be at $40. A $5 discount can be arranged by the student
getting a signed note from her/his counselor that indicates the student is
part of the free-lunch program. The student must present their student ID to
purchase a ticket. No checks are accepted, only cash and money orders.
The dress code is semi-formal. Appropriate dress and bags will be checked at
the door by safety officers and administrators. A red-carpet fashion show
will give students a chance to win a prize for Classiest Dressed. Other
events will include a special dance performance, a possible musical guest,
and recognition of a Cupid and Cupidette.
This event is for ALL students - grades and backgrounds. A variety of music
and finger food will be offered to appeal to the greatly diverse interests
of the student body. Please encourage your student to attend with some
friends for a safe and fun night to remember. Unfortunately, any student
who has already or does face serious disciplinary action between January 3
and the date of the Ball will not be allowed to attend.
A professional photographer will be present to take pictures for as little
as $8 each when students take a "group" picture (three or more people).
Parent volunteers are also needed to help with tasks such as coat check and
keeping the refreshments area stocked and clean. Please let me know if you
are interested in volunteering at this exciting event!
