STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Monday, January 31, 2011 (No school on Monday, Jan. 31 - semester break)

ADMINISTRATION

 

*1. The exit exam for 10th graders will be Tuesday, February 1st, and
Wednesday, February 2nd.  Students should arrive at 7:30 am.

 

2.. BSEP applications are now available for the fall 2011-2012 school year.
Pick one up in the administration office from Belinda McDaniel, or send an
email request to bmcdaniel at berkeley.k12.ca.us for a digital copy.  Deadline
is February 25th. Don't delay, or you will miss out on this grant
opportunity.

 

3. Winter Ball tickets are on sale for $30.  Tickets are sold on the senior
steps.  You must have student ID to purchase a ticket.  The set-up will be
more extravagant than ever including a replica of the Eiffel Tower,
fountains and special lightning.  February 12, 2011 from 7-11 pm at the BHS
Jacket Gym. Any students with three or more overdue textbooks will not be
able to purchase tickets for the Winter Ball.  Please see Ms. Reed in the
textbook room to return books or clear fines.

 

4.  The Berkeley Council of Classified Employees Union, which is the union
for the Office Staff and Instructional Assistants, is sponsoring a shoe
drive to "Support the Soles of Berkeley Students".  Usually, parents need
buy gift of a pair if shoes to help students in need.  Now until, January
26th, a collection box is located in the main office. Please donate a pair
of shoes or donate money for shoes.  Cash donations can be made payable to
the Berkeley Public Education Foundation or to the front office to Ms.
Taylor or Mrs. McDaniel. Distribution will occur on January 29th at the
Berkeley Adult School.

 

*5. Come buy candy grams and flowers for your sweetheart on February 9-11th
at the C-Building gallery.  They will be delivered on Valentine's day.  All
money raised will go to the Leadership program.

 

SPORTS

 

*1. BHS Girls lacrosse season is about to begin! THIS Friday, February 4th
there will be an informational meeting at lunchtime on the bleachers. If you
are a returning player, a new player, or just interested in finding out more
about lacrosse, make sure to attend. Berkeley High School Girls Lacrosse
Tryouts begin Monday, February 7th at 6:30am at the turf field.

 

2. To All aspiring Cheerleaders, Songleaders (Dancers) and Mascots, Pump it
up let's hear it for the upcoming "2011-2012 Cheerleaders, Songleaders
(Dancers) and Mascots!"  Tryouts for all BHS students (new students are
welcome) - the dates for tryouts are March 7-11, 2011. Yell, Go! Fight! Win!

 

SENIORS

 

1. Senior yearbook pages are on sale in H102B during 7th period only.  Come
soon as space fills quickly. Yearbooks are for sale at www.myyear.com

2. Important! Cal Grants are due to the BHS Registrar by February 7th!  You
can pick up the form in the College Career Center or in the Counseling
Department.  Don't delay!  The registrar's office is D173.

 

EVENTS

 

Act, Sing, & Dance in YMTC's Pocket Broadway. YMTC's training workshop,
Pocket Broadway, begins in February; we are now open for registration.
Develop and deepen your singing, acting, and dancing skills, while working
on exciting and challenging material from an array of musicals. Workshop
runs for 9 weeks, February 28 through May 7 (no workshop March 31 or the
week of April 3); works-in-progress performances May 6 & 7.  No auditions -
all students in grades 7 and up are welcome. Tuition: $400; tuition
assistance available - inquire with registration For more information, call

JOBS/INTERNSHIPS

 

*The City of Berkeley Parks and Recreation Office is looking for students
interested in assisting at the Echo Lake Youth/Family Camp in South Lake
Tahoe, as a counselor in training(Ages 14-15) or camp staff (Ages 16+) this
summer.  For more information visit the Parks and Recreation webpage at
