1) Pakistan Flood Relief Campaign, student donations sought on Wednesday,
Nov. 10

Just as students at BHS organized last year to bring over $10,000 to the
people of Haiti, this year they take up the charge again: "Where Humanity
Struggles to Live, Berkeley High Steps Up to Give."

The student leadership team was approached by a student who immigrated
from Pakistan in 2003. Her family has suffered from the massive flooding
of the Indus River that hit the country this summer. But she is not the
only victim of course: As of November 6, the UN estimates over 14 million
people remain in dire need of assistance.

While the earthquake in Haiti was covered widely and deeply in the US
media, many Americans are completely unaware of the devastation in
Pakistan. If you can make even a small donation to help those in Pakistan
through the trusted and good work of the American Refugee Committee,
please do so today.

On campus tomorrow, Wednesday, November 10 students will be asked to
contribute any extra money they have on hand during their 2nd period. As
a way to encourage your student's participation please also consider
sending them with something to offer for this collection.

2) Gifts from Peet's Coffee for donations to Pakistan Flood Relief

Peet's Coffee & Tea has teamed up with the student leaders of BHS to offer
great gifts for donations made to the BHS Pakistan Flood Relief Campaign.
Simply make a donation at: http://www.firstgiving.com/bhsforpakistan and
then we will arrange for you to receive your coupon or certificate.

A donation can also be made by writing a check to the "BHS Global Relief
Fund" or bringing cash to the Leadership Office where your donation can be
recorded. Checks and cash will be collected and sent in one large check
to the American Refugee Committee for their aid efforts in Pakistan.

* The first 300 donations of $20 each receive a free beverage
coupon.*

* The first 10 donations of $50 each receive a certificate for one
pound of coffee*

* The first 2 donations of $250 each receive certificate for one
pound of coffee monthly for 12 months*

(*One coupon or certificate per person per donation. Coupons/certificates
redeemable at Peets Coffee & Tea retail stores ONLY.)

Thank you,

THE BHS Executive Student Leadership Team
