ADMINISTRATION

 

*1. Attention all students and staff: Starting next week is the annual
food drive for the Holiday Meal.  This year we need canned food but also
fresh food.  So start gathering cans now or think about something tasty to
make.  The meal is on December 11th.  Also come to the Leadership office
to volunteer to work a shift at the meal.

 

*2.  No classes on Thursday and Friday.

 

CLUBS

 

*1. Join the eco-community on a trip to the Berkeley Repertory Theatre on
Monday evening from 7-9 pm.  Do you know what your carbon footprint is?
Well come find out, while Berkeley Lab scientists reveal the latest
research on how to reduce your carbon foot print at home, work, and at
school.  Learn how even the smallest choices can have a big impact.

 

SPORTS

 

*1. Boys Basketball Tryouts, When: Monday, November 8- Wednesday, November
10.  Levels= All  

Frosh: Social Hall/Old Gym   7:00 -9:15 pm

JV: Social Hall/Old Gym    4:15 -6:15 pm       

Varsity 7:00 - 9:30 pm

Come in basketball attire and for best results, attend all three days of
tryouts.

 

2. BHS Boys Soccer tryouts are November 8-12, 2010, 3:45-5:30 pm at the
Derby field. Interested soccer players should pre-register online and get
tryout updates at www.futbolberkeley.com <http://www.futbolberkeley.com/>
. Complete a BHS athletic packet and bring it to first day of tryouts. Get
an athletic packet from the Athletic Director's office.  Make sure the
doctor signs off on the athletic packet.

 

3. Wrestling try-outs begin this week from 4-6:30 pm in the wrestling room
in the Old Gym.  Any boy or girl from 100 pounds to 300 pounds, there is a
spot for you. No experience necessary. All you need is the will to win and
be a champion!

 

SENIORS

 

*College Visits - Seniors only. Sign up in advance in the College/Career
Center and pick up a permission slip. The complete list, updated daily, is

JOBS/INTERNSHIPS

 

Youthworks Employment Program in the Department of Housing and Community
Services will accept applications beginning October 1st through November
5th for the winter/after school program. Qualified youth ages 14-25. The
pay is $8 an hour. To apply you need to go in person to the Youthworks
Office. For more information call 981-4970 or email

EVENTS

 

1. The BHS Jazz Lab bands will perform at their first concert of the
school year on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at the BHS Little Theater
beginning at 7:00 pm.  Tickets are $10 (general admission); BHS students
and staff are free; other student tickets are $3.  Lots of snacks and soft
drinks available for purchase.  Come enjoy the evening, hear great music,
and support these talented musicians and BHS Jazz!

 

2. COME SHOP AT MRS. DALLOWAY'S BOOKSTORE AND SUPPORT BERKELEY HIGH!!!

 

Mrs. Dalloway's bookstore will reimburse Berkeley High School for 20% of
the total purchases made by our school community on November 13th and
14th.  This is a great opportunity to stock up on holiday gift items, such
as children's books, cookbooks, adult fiction, gardening books, and gift
certificates.  

 

Please make sure to keep your receipts and write "BERKELEY HIGH SCHOOL" on
them and then TURN THEM IN BY NOVEMBER 30TH by using one of the following
methods:

 

1. fax them to (510)558-4069

2. scan and email them to marianberges at earthlink.net   

3. snail-mail them to the Berkeley High School Development Group at 

          BHSDG

4. drop them off in the "Mrs. Dalloway's Fundraiser Box" at the front desk
at Berkeley High School.
