RE: 		APPOINTMENT OF TWO NEW ADMINISTRATORS FOR THE DISTRICT

The Board of Education is pleased to announce that we took action last night
on the appointment of two new administrators for the Berkeley Unified School
District.

Pasquale Scuderi was named as the Principal of Berkeley High School, and Dr.
Susan Craig was named as the Director of Student Services.

Pasquale Scuderi has a successful history in districts, including Berkeley.
Mr. Scuderi was an English and History Teacher at Helms Middle School in
West Contra Costa Unified School District for five years and then served as
an administrative intern there.  

Mr. Scuderi came to Berkeley Unified School District in 2006 as the VP of
Berkeley High School, where he was the lead administrator for Academic
Choice along with all his other duties.

In 2008, Mr. Scuderi became the Director of Personnel Services for Berkeley
Unified School District and handled a variety of personnel related matters.
Mr. Scuderi also represented Human Resources on the 2020 Task Force.

Mr. Scuderi brings a wealth of knowledge about teaching and learning and
BHS, as well as strong training in diversity.  He is a graduate of the PLI
at UC Berkeley.  The Board has unanimously approved his appointment and we
look forward to his leadership at BHS.

Dr. Craig comes to us from Vallejo Unified School District.  She has
extensive experience in alternative education, student discipline, and
served as the District's lead contact for the Office of Civil Rights.  Dr.
Craig was born and raised in Berkeley.  She attended Berkeley Unified School
District through high school and graduated from UC Berkeley.  We look
forward to her return.
