Berkeley High School Vice Principal Amy Frey has announced that Coach Fred
w. Sims III will be BHS’s new football coach, replacing Alonzo Carter who
announced his resignation to become the Head Coach and PE instructor at
Contra Costa College.

A graduate of Cal Berkeley, Coach Sims is no stranger to Berkeley, and is
also no stranger to high school athletics, where he has been a head coach
since 1998. For the past decade Coach Sims has run the varsity track and
varsity football programs at St. Elizabeth High School in Oakland where
they were the 2009 NCS Champions.

Coach Sims is already meeting with the varsity players, who are very
interested in learning more about their new coach and his plans here at
Berkeley High. Coach Sims is equally excited about getting to know his
players. Look forward to more about him in the next BUSD A+ News, and to
be expected in the next BHS Jacket.
