1. Today a fight between two groups of BHS students escalated in the OCI
office when a parent and at least one non student arrived.  Berkeley Police,
Berkeley High administrators, and Safety Officers were on location.  The
instructions to secure the campus by asking all teachers to keep students in
the class was a precautionary measure so that students and staff would be
clear of any potential danger.  The response of Safety Officers and Berkeley
Police was swift and several arrests were made.  We apologize for any
disturbance to your classes but do appreciate all of your support.

2. On Wednesday, March 10 three separate incidents occurred on or near the
BHS campus: 

The first incident occurred in the MLK Civic Center park at approximately
12:00 pm.  A BHS Safety Officer, while making rounds, was assaulted by one
non-student and two BHS students.  The Safety Officer is fine and the
Berkeley Police Department responded and arrests were made.  

The second incident occurred several minutes after the first assault.  An
adult individual wielding a pair of scissors came onto the BHS campus. The
individual was detained by Safety Officers and arrested by the
Berkeley Police Department.

The third incident occurred at the intersection of Milvia and Kittredge at
approximately 3:40 pm.  A group of non-BHS students were involved in a
fight.  Safety Officers were dispatched to the scene.  The individuals
moved up toward Shattuck Avenue and the Berkeley Police Department were
called.
