Come support the Berkeley High students who are participating in the Youth
and Government program at the Downtown Berkeley YMCA!  All proceeds from the
annual Scholastic Book Fair will benefit the program, which empowers
Berkeley teenagers to enact mock legislation and government. 

Date: November 30th through December 21st

Stop by the Y and finish all of your holiday shopping with our amazing
selection of books. Join YMCA staff and families for Scholastic Story-times
where new books will be showcased!

Youth & Government is a state-wide after-school program for high school
students run by the YMCA. Students get the opportunity to build leadership
skills by enacting a mock government; students run for elected office, write
and present legislative bills, participate in mock trials, etc. As the
program culminates in a conference at the State Capitol members must pay
program dues to cover cost of transportation, room & board, etc. This
upcoming book fair is one of many fundraisers run by our members to
subsidize the cost of these dues. All of the members of the Downtown
Berkeley delegation, with the exception of one student, currently attend
BHS.
