The City of Berkeley Youthworks fall/winter employment session is 
about to start. The application process will be for the entire month 
of October.  Starting Wednesday October 1st students can pick up an 
application at the Youthworks office located at 1947 Center St. 
Basement Level. Berkeley CA  94704.  Students will be required to 
sign in. While signing in they will provide their address and phone 
number.  ONE application per student.  Students may be accompanied by 
an adult.  However the student is required to come in and pick up the 
application.

In order for an application to be accepted the student must fill it 
out completely.  This means filling out the work experience portion 
of the application (Work experience does not have to be paid, it can 
be chores done at home, volunteer work within churches, CBO's, with 
neighbors or family.) Applications with the work experience portion 
blank will not be accepted. The application will need to be signed by 
themselves and their legal guardian. (If under 18)

The application must also be accompanied by the following in order to 
be accepted:

PHOTO ID, Acceptable forms of ID are, state, military, school, and 
passport.  YMCA and Library cards are not acceptable. 

SOCIAL SECURITY CARD. The actual Social Security card must be brought 
it in. (Please note that no copies will be accepted.)

A RECENT PROGRESS REPORT SHOWING AT LEAST A 2.0 GPA.  School 
generated or student initiated progress reports are acceptable.

PROOF OF RESIDENCE.  A utility bill for a residence in Berkeley in 
the student's legal guardian's name.

RESUME.   Work experience does not have to be paid, volunteer work; 
chores around the house are acceptable. Hand written resumes will be 
strongly discouraged.

The students have the entire month of October to submit an 
application.  If accepted they will be contacted and informed of the 
next step.  Selection is not on a first come first served basis. 
However it is encouraged that the students submit their application 
as promptly as possible.

selection for employment.
