The Berkeley HIgh School Development Group (BHSDG) is pleased to 
announce that we have funded the following grants:

Shannon Erby - AHA Harlem Renaissance Dance grant - guest dance 
teacher will teach Lindy Hop/Swing dances to AHA U.S. History 
students to bring alive the performing arts of the Harlem 
Renaissance/1920's time period.

Coach Carter - Athletics - Freshman Football Equipment - BHSDG and 
BAF (Berkeley Athletic Fund) are funding sets of equipment (helmet, 
pads, practice jerseys) for the freshman football team.

In addition, the BHSDG gave Discretionary Funds grants to:  College 
and Career Center, Counseling Department, Health Center, Parent 
Resource Center and Special Education Department.

And, we have again funded AfterSchool Tutoring by BHS teachers for 
the 2008-2009 school year - details and schedules of tutoring will be 
posted on the etree and at BHS as soon as all details are worked out.

At the end of the last school year, the BHSDG funded the following 
grants for projects/purchases taking place in the 2008-2009 school 
year:

Ilene Abrams - College/Career Center - 10th Grade College Field Trips 
for BHS students to visit college campuses

Nakia Baird - Math - Document Camera (ELMO) and a Multimedia Projector

Frances Cohen - College Application Handbook for Seniors, College 
Information Guide for Juniors, Introduction to College Planning for 
Sophomores

Kristin Glenchur - Athletics - 3 Seasons of Strength and Conditioning 
Coaches to supervise the weight room

Gideon Goldman - Math - LCD Projector for math department

Charles Hamilton - Jazz program - Festival Fees and Transportation Costs

Crystal Jensen - Technology - BHS Mouse Squad - startup costs for a 
student help desk project to diagnose and resolve technical support 
issues at BHS

Annie Johnston/Amy Crawford - CPA and CAS - Writing Coaches for CPA 
and CAS Freshmen and Sophomores

Matt Kraft/Lisa Hlass - Life Academy - Mentor Tutoring for Life 
Academy Students

Ben Neumann - Special Education - CD Players for Students with 
Reading Disabilities

Mollie Hart - 2008/2009 BHS Organizer for all students

Audrey Spector/Wendy Lukas - PTSA - Parent Education Speaker Series

We are grateful to all of our donors who allow us to support many
