Clubs
* 1. Students and staff are welcome to join us to discuss a plan of
action to demonstrate solidarity for immigrant rights in Berkeley.
Please come to C112 after school today 5/8/08.  Join FIRE (Fighting
for immigrants rights and equality).

2. Yearbooks for sale in H102.  Buy them soon.   $75 dollars for
everyone, $60 for reduced lunch.  2 for 1 deal 07 and 08 for $100.
Look for $5 off coupon in the latest jacket.  Also, yearbook students
meet today in H102.


Sports

*1. VARSITY GIRLS SOFTBALL - Monday, May 12-Berkeley vs. El Cerrito
High.  The girls are tied for first in the ACCAL and headed for
another NCS appearance.  Come cheer them on!

*2. Congratulations to John Hasse and Andrew Moreno-Hunt who both
advance to the NCS Tournament of Champions on Monday 5/12 at Franklin
Canyon.  John shot a 79 and Andrew shot a 81 to get into a 7 person
playoff for 1  spot to advance.  He hit it to 2 feet on the 10th hole
par 3 and made  
birdie to advance to the Tournament.  


All Students

1. VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY - Thursday, May 22, Lake Temescal, East Bay
Regional Park District hosts Special Kids Fishing Derbies for disabled
elementary school children.  Every child needs an older "buddy" to
escort them through the day's activities.  Volunteers will attend an
orientation before the elementary students arrive, receive a free
t-shirt and breakfast and lunch.  For more information, call

Senior / Junior Section

1. SENIORS- Please take a look at the Potential GRAD list.  If you
find any discrepancies, please see Ms. Mellion in room D173 at
lunchtime or after school.  The list will be posted in the College
Advisors room- D221.

*2. JUNIORS - College Information Night, Tuesday, May 13, Scottish
Rite Center, 1547 Lakeside Dr., Oakland.  Student/Parent sessions
sponsored by Duke, Georgetown, Harvard, Penn and Stanford.  7:30pm -

3. SENIORS - CAL GRANT - YOU HAVE ANOTHER CHANCE.  If you did not turn
in your Cal Grant Information Release Form before March 2, you have
another chance to do so.  Pick up a "Late Cal Grant GPA Verification
Form" from D173 and return it to Ms. Mellion no later than May 12.  


Summer Opportunities

1. STAGE DOOR CONSERVATORY will be hiring three students to work as
apprentices from June 16 through August 25.  Apprentices will assist
with the day-to-day operation of our musical theater camp and with
rehearsals. They will also select and focus upon one specialty area
and focus on this area during their apprenticeship.  Each apprentice
will be paid a $1,000 stipend at the conclusion of the 10 week period
and can be absent for one week during the season, with the exception
of the weeks of August 2 and August 18. Program hours: 8:30 AM to 4:00
PM, MON - FRI. Apprentices must also work at our shows on August 8, 9
and 10 and 22, 23 and 24.  For more information and an application,
