STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
April 23, 2008
Administration
1. STAR testing begins this week: April 22-April 25th. Seniors begin
school each day at 12 noon. Ninth - eleventh graders begin each
morning at 8:30 am. All students report to their second period
classes each day. Schedule attached below--see at the end of this
bulletin.
2. Mathworks interested in becoming a lead tutor for Willard Mathworks?
Attend leadership and training meeting at 3:30 pm in H115. Contact
Mark Lee at Willardmathworks at gmail.com.
3. Achievers - Berkley high's Cap and Gown provider is coming this
Friday to pick up graduation packets and order forms. This is the
last day to order, please get your orders to them by Friday! If you do
not have a graduation packet you can pick up in the main office.
4. ID photos for new students and duplicate ID's can be obtained
Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays at lunchtime and from 3:00 to 3:30
after school on those days. The last day to take a picture or receive
a duplicate ID card will be Thursday May 8, 2008. Remember you need
an ID to attend any activity including the prom, so please don't
delay. Get your ID's if you don't have one.
5. BART Tickets are in for April. Please pick up your tickets by
April 25, as new orders will be taken at the end of the month. Pick
up tickets at lunchtime and after school in Room D224.
6. Crab Feed- April 25, 2008-BHS Food Court. Please support Youth of
the Berkeley High- Rise Program. All you can eat Crab including
Pasta, Salad, Bread and drinks. Raffle. Tickets are available in
G111 or call 849-4898- $35 each.
7. CSF Members- Are you interested in a leadership position in
Berkeley High's CSF Chapter next year? Applications for CSF
president, Vice-President, Secretary and treasurer are now available
in the College career Center, D221. Applications are due Friday,
April 25th in D221. Contact csfbhs at gmail.com with any questions.

Sports
1. All Basketball Athletes: The banquet for all levels is at
Longfellow on Wednesday, 4/23 at 6:00 pm. Freshman are to bring
drinks and breads, JV are to bring salads and deserts and V will bring
entrees. Call Coach Draper to confirm your attendance at 229-7812.
2. The boys Basketball Banquet will be April 24th 6:00 to 8:00 pm in
the Berkeley High Cafeteria. This will be a pot luck affair. Contact
Coach Guinn for more information at 510-815-2175.
Sophomores / Juniors
1. ST. MARY'S COLLEGE FAIR - Saturday, April 26, from 1:00-4:30pm,
come to the St. Mary's College Fair to get information from over 150
college representatives from around the country. Workshops on
admissions and financial aid in English and Spanish are also
available. Free shuttles are available every 15 minutes beginning at
12:30 pm from the Orinda BART station. For more information, go to

Senior / Junior Section
1. SCHOLARSHIPS

2. DANCERS: Interested in the Mills College dance program? Come to a
lunchtime performance this Friday in the A-Bldg, on the Community
Theater Stage. MFA students will perform and answer questions about
the great dance program at Mills College. Bring your lunch!
*3. Sunday, April 27, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in Heller Lounge, UC
Berkeley will host "Achieving our Dreams, Immigrant Student
Conference," that will focus on the struggles of undocumented
students and how they can make it through college. There will be
workshops on applying to and paying for college and advocating for
every student's right to an education regardless of their legal
status. Open to high school students, community college students,

Summer Opportunities
*1. STAGE DOOR CONSERVATORY will be hiring three students to work as
apprentices from June 16 through August 25. Apprentices will assist
with the day-to-day operation of our musical theater camp and with
rehearsals. They will also select and focus upon one specialty area
and focus on this area during their apprenticeship. Each apprentice
will be paid a $1,000 stipend at the conclusion of the 10 week period
and can be absent for one week during the season, with the exception
of the weeks of August 2 and August 18. Program hours: 8:30 AM to
4:00 PM, MON - FRI. Apprentices must also work at our shows on August
8, 9 and 10 and 22, 23 and 24. For more information and an

Counselor-in-training
*2. Outward Bound Gay and Lesbian Youth Leadership Mountaineering
Course, July 11-20, 2008, Saguache Range, Colorado. This 10-day
wilderness leadership course is designed for gay, lesbian, bisexual,
and transgendered young adults (ages 16-25) from across the country.
During these transformational mountaineering adventures, students
have hands-on opportunities to challenge themselves both physically
and mentally. They work to strengthen leadership skills and test
problem-solving and risk-taking techniques both individually and as a
