Administration
1. Mathworks Coordinator needed. Excellent references for College,
provides community service hours and tutoring credits for math.

2. A Tobacco Prevention Interactive Science fair is scheduled all day
in the library on Wednesday. Teachers please sign your classes up.
Call 644-6034 or leave a message in the Tobacco Fair Box on the table
in the mailroom. If you already signed up the box was thrown away.
Please sign up again.
3. Seniors- the deadline for purchasing your cap and gown is fast
approaching. Achievers will be at Berkeley high School this Thursday,
March 20th during lunch to accept cap and gown orders. If you need an
order form, please contact ACHIEVERS and one will be mailed to you.
Achievers can be reached at 408-441-7200.
Clubs
1. The Berkeley High Student Court is looking for student jurors to
volunteer for our upcoming trials on March 19th and 20th at 2134 MLK
from 5:30-7:30. The purpose of the Student Court is to hear cases of
students who would otherwise be suspended and to find restorative
alternatives to suspension. Being on a jury satisfies community
service hours. Arrive early for sign up. Snacks will be provided.
*2. Hey Berkeley High? Come to C224 after school for Youth
Together's film screening of First to Worst. This documentary covers
California 's Education system. Come to talk about how you will be
affected by the budget cuts.
3. Easter Sunday is coming up! But what is Easter really about?
Chocolate Marshmallow bunnies and egg hunts? or Jesus resurrection?
Youth for Christ club invites you to this Friday's question and
answers to find out more about Easter and what it can mean for you.
That's this Friday at lunch in C311. Lunch will be provided.
4. Come to the vegan/vegetarian BBQ at lunch on Friday !! We will
have delicious home made veggie burgers and veggies kababs and freshly
baked cookies. Our prices are veggilicious.
Sports
*1. Varsity Girls Softball- the jackets will play rival team Alameda
at Grove Street park (MLK and Russell) on Friday, March 21 at 3:30 pm.
Run over after school to cheer your girls on!
*2. Cheerleading tryouts begin on Monday, April 14th. You must have a
complete athletic packet to tryout, including a recent physical.
Packets are available in the front or athletic offices. For more
information stop by the dance room.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Attention: BHS girls- If you need a dress for the Junior Prom or
Senior Ball, Princess Project we'll be giving away free dresses this
Saturday, March 15th at Bayfair Mall in San Leandro starting at 7:00
am. and in San Francisco on March 22nd and 29th. The San Francisco
location will be announced later.
*2. Tuxedos- Express Tuxedo will be here TODAY during lunch. If you
need a tuxedo and have not ordered one, it's not too late. The
representative will be in front of the administrative office.
3. Seniors! Want to run for senior Ball Royalty? Then come apply at
D148 by March 28th!
*4. Juniors: FREE SAT PREP CLASS - you can still join the free SAT
prep class at Berkeley High. It's held every Tuesday and Wednesday
from 3:45-5:45 in H207. Tuesday focuses on the math portion of the
test and Wednesday focuses on the critical reading section. No
sign-up is necessary.
*5. Juniors: SAT/ACT TEST DATES - March 21 is the late registration
deadline for the April 12 ACT test. April 1 is the regular
registration deadline for the May 3 SAT and SAT subject tests. Fee
waivers for low income students are available in D221.
Events/ Performances
*1. This Friday Night at 7:30 pm in the Little Theater is the big
night for the award winning Berkeley High School Jazz Ensemble! Come
see this amazing 25 piece big band perform, and also see the two
combos from this group rock the house as well. This show is free to
BHS students and staff, so bring your friends and check it out this
Friday night!
2. Junior Prom is March 22, 2008 at the Scottish Rite Center,
Oakland.Tickets are still available in D148. Tickets are $70 each.
3. Wanna come to a house party on campus? MORP is April 11th from
7-11 pm in the BHS cafeteria. There will be a lot of raffle and
prizes. Come see how well the Freshman can throw a party.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES
SPRING BREAK JOBS - Sarah's Science is looking for day camp
counselors. Students must be at least 16 years old, have experience
working with children (babysitting counts), a positive attitude and
enjoy guiding and mentoring children ages 5-12. Camps are located in
Oakland, Berkeley and Dublin. Oakland and Dublin: March 24-28;
Berkeley: March 31-April 4, 8:00 am-5:30 pm. Pay: $8.00/hour.

Summer camp jobs - City of Berkeley, Echo Lake Camp near South Lake
Tahoe is hiring for maintenance and kitchen staff as well as
counselors. Most staff work 8 hour days. Counselors work about 8
hours each day through the week and have weekends off. Shifts vary

NOTE NEW DEADLINE - Camp Galileo is an art, science and outdoor summer
day camp for kids entering K-5 grade. Volunteer Summer Intern
positions at Camp Galileo are available for high school students in
over 19 communities throughout the Bay Area. Summer Interns can earn
high school community service credits, gain leadership experience,
make new friends and enjoy an enriching and rewarding summer
experience with children entering K-5th grades. Summer Interns assist
with all aspects of camp-from helping kids with art and science
classes to setting up camp games.~ Students can volunteer for 3-8

APPLICATION DEADLINE IS APRIL 3. Camps run from 6-8 weeks starting
June 16 - August 8.
