SAT WORD OF THE DAY: JURISPRUDENCE – the philosophy or science of law.
A law student studies jurisprudence in order to get his or her law
degree.

FOR ALL STUDENTS
Do you think that few people are looking at your profile on Facebook,
MySpace, Friendster and other social networking sites? Think again. A
recent poll conducted by the University of Massachusetts of 453 college
admissions offices found that 26% are actively researching students
through Google and other search engines and 21% are checking out social
networking profiles when reviewing applicants. For more information on
the study and some helpful hints on keeping your information private,
check out the article at
http://www.daytondailynews.com/n/content/oh/story/news/local/2007/11/

SENDING TEST SCORES
1. If you are finished taking SAT’s and/or ACT’s and haven’t told
College Board or ACT to send your test scores to each UC and Cal State
campus where you are applying, do so ASAP. To send your SAT scores to
Cal State campuses, use the code 3594 (CSU Mentor) and you will only
have to pay once to make your scores available to each Cal State
campus. This service is not available through ACT.
2. If you’re taking the SAT and/or the ACT in December, make sure that
you have listed all of the UC’s and CSU’s on your registration form
(you can use the code 3594 to send all of your SAT scores to each CSU
campus) so that they will receive your scores. If you wait until you
get your scores and then tell the testing agency to send them, it will
be too late.

COLLEGE VISITS
Seniors, sign up in D221 to attend college presentations. All
presentations will be held in the College/Career Center. You must also
pick up an authorization form for your teacher to sign so that you may
miss his or her class. This is a great opportunity to find out more
about what individual colleges have to offer as well as to meet the
admission officer who may be reading your application. Students may
not attend more than 10 college visits during the school year.

Friday, November 30

your teachers well. If you are admitted to Fairhaven, you can still
take classes in the big school.
