about ways to conserve energy and water. No soliciting involved.

*VOLUNTEER - Lisa Clark is looking for a volunteer to help her with
internet research. Students can volunteer. Lisa has a masters in
history and is willing to trade internet research for tutoring in
writing and college prep advice. Time commitment: 4-5 hours per
week. 510-205-7671.

*STERN GROVE FESTIVAL is looking for volunteers to usher, staff the
information booth, collect donations and help with the children’s
program. The festival is every Sunday from June 17 to August 19 and
features a wide array of free performances, from Opera and Ballet to
Latin, R&B and Jazz, not to mention music from Israel, Brazil, and
South Africa. Volunteers enjoy reserve seating and free beverages
and snacks. This is a great opportunity to learn about career paths
in the arts. The full season schedule and the volunteer registration
form are now available at www.sterngrove.org. Email
volunteer at sterngrove.org with any questions, or call 415.252.6253.

FOR SENIORS
*Are you planning on attending Berkeley City, Laney, Merritt or
Alameda Colleges? Come by D221 on Thursday at lunch or 4th period to
fill out your application and get registered!

UC campuses strongly recommend that admitted students attend
ORIENTATION 2007 a campus orientation session, where you will find
the answers to many questions about what life will be like at the
University. The schedule provides orientation dates, fees, campus
contact information and more. http://www.ucop.edu/pathways/ucnotes/
May07/orientation.html

The Common Application website will shut down on Sunday night, June
3, at 11:59 pm Eastern Daylight time. If you are still applying to
Common Application schools or want a copy of your application, make
sure and save the information on another site or print out a copy
before then or the data will be lost. Check back on July 1 for the
new Common App Online.

CSF Sealbearers – The tassels and cords for you to wear at graduation
have arrived. Pick yours up from Ms. Harris in the College/Career
Center.

SENIOR EXIT REPORT – If you have not turned in the Senior Exit Report
to D221 or your teacher, you must do so immediately, or you will not
be able to pick up your graduation tickets. Come to the College/
Career Center to fill out a form TODAY! It only takes a few minutes.

June 1 – Last day for students to turn in a Transcript Request Form
to Ms. Mellion in D173 so that we can send an official transcript to
the school you will be attending in the fall. Write “FINAL
TRANSCRIPT” in capital letters across the top of the form and
paperclip it to a stamped business size envelope addressed to the
college, with Berkeley High School (1980 Allston Way, Berkeley 94704)
as the return address. If you are under 18, please remember to have
your parent or guardian sign the request form. All colleges require
that students send them a final transcript confirming their senior
year grades.

If you are getting below a C in any of your classes and are planning
to attend a four year college in the fall, you MUST contact the
college to discuss this. All colleges will receive a copy of your
final transcript. By contacting the college and discussing your
options with them, you may be able to prevent your admission from
being rescinded. Please see me or Mr. Saraceno if you would like to
discuss your grades or what to say to the college.

FOR JUNIORS
The Junior Summer To Do List and the Senior Profile are now available
in the College/Career Center. Students are required to fill out the
Senior Profile if they are applying to any private schools or
scholarships which require a counselor recommendation or School
Report. I strongly recommend that students complete the profile
during the summer, as the fall semester is extremely busy. There is
also a section of the Senior Profile which parents/guardians must
complete.

Thinking of applying to a UC campus? The new Introducing the
University is now available in the College/Career Center. This
information packed-booklet is a great resource on each UC campus,
including majors and admissions, as well as the UC system as a
whole. Don’t forget to pick yours up!

VISUAL AND PERFORMING ARTISTS – The National Foundation for
Advancement in the Arts is accepting applications for cash awards up
to $10,000 and an opportunity for arts enrichment programs. The
early deadline, which provides for a 30% discount on the $35
application fee, is June 1. The final deadline is October 1.
Students who will be seniors during the 2007-08 academic year who are
U.S. citizens or permanent residents may apply. Awards range from
$500 to $10,000. For more information, call 800-970-2787 or go to
www.youngARTS.org .

If you haven’t yet signed up for an appointment with your College
Advisor, it’s not too late! There are now many appointment slots
available. Come to the College/Career Center to sign up. If your
last name begins with A-La, sign up with Ms. Abrams, for Le-Z, sign
up with Mr. Saraceno. We both also have shorter drop-in appointments
every day at lunch and after school for all juniors and seniors.
