STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1. Would you like to speak or perform at the 2007 Graduation? Sign up
today with Belinda McDaniel in the Administration Office.
*2. Seniors! Overdue books? Any overdue books must be turned in
immediately. You will not be able to pick up your Prom tickets if you
do not return the books. This is an urgent matter if you plan on
going to the senior ball.
3. Would you like to be an announcer for the student daily bulletin
next school year? If so, tryouts will take place, Wednesday, May 30th
at 7:30 am on the football field. Please wear gym clothes for this
audition. We will explain when you arrive.
4. Berkeley High Students: Are you interested in becoming an
educator? Berkeley City College is offering a class here at BHS that
teaches and examines the fundamentals of education. 10 High School
units And three UC transferable can be earned by taking Ed 1: Intro to
the field of education. Ask your Social Studies teacher or your
counselor for more information.
5. Summer School applications are available in the Counseling Office
and at the Parent Volunteer Desk in the Administration office.
Priority Registration ends May 25. Please see your counselor and sign
up ASAP.
6. MathWorks Coordinators needed at Willard Middle School.This will
satisfy community service, tutoring hours, leadership and provide
recommendations.

7. Do you or someone you know need a prom dress? Stop by D148 and
come take a look. Dresses from Biscotti are available.
Clubs
1. Are you interested in being on the BHS Dance Team? Open auditions
will be held on May 23rd in the dance room. Stop by D148 for more
information?
*2. Earphone English- Francisca will be here on Wednesday at lunch in
C116. Please bring back all audio books and get your extra credit!
Sports
1. Congratulations to Whitney McGee; she is the Tribune's Athlete of
the Week!
*2. Congratulations to both the Baseball and Softball teams for making
it to the North Coast Section 3A Tournament. Baseball seeded #9 and
will face #6 Alameda at Lincoln Park on Tuesday at 5:00 pm. Softball
share the league champion title with Pinole and Alameda. They seeded
#15 and will travel to #2 Foothill Tuesday at 5:00. Winner advance to
the second round on Saturday. Tickets are$8 and $6. Good luck
Jackets!
*3. Boys Volleyball ended a well-fought season last Tuesday in the
Donahue Gym with a first round loss to Granada. The boys can be proud
of their ACCAL League Championship, the first in many years!
4. Summer Twilight Basketball League: MLK Jr Youth Center June 22,
2007- September 1, 2007
Fridays (14-15) 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM

Senior / Junior Section
1. Senior Awards Ceremony Rehearsal- Rehearsal for the Senior awards
Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 22, third period only. Students
who turned in their Senior Awards Ceremony forms are required to
attend the rehearsal in the Community Theater. Please come promptly
at the beginning of third period. If you have questions, please see
Ms Abrams or Ms Harris in the College/Career Center.
*2. Seniors,for those of who have ordered your cap and gown,
distribution will begin at 3:30 on May 22nd in the Community Theater
Lobby. Distribution is by last name:
May 22nd last names beginning with A-H
May 23rd last names beginning with I-P.
May 24th last names beginning with Q-Z.
Any questions go by the leadership office in D148.
3. June 1 - Last day for students to turn in a Transcript Request Form
to Ms. Mellion in D173 so that we can send an official transcript to
the school you will be attending in the fall. Write "FINAL
TRANSCRIPT" in capital letters across the top of the form and paper
clip it to a stamped business size envelope addressed to the college,
with Berkeley High School (1980 Allston Way, Berkeley 94704) as the
return address. If you are under 18, please remember to have your
parent or guardian sign the request form. All colleges require that
students send them a final transcript confirming their senior year
grades.
4. For Juniors- if you haven't yet signed up for an appointment with
your College Advisor, it's not too late! There are now many
appointment slots available. Come to the college/Career Center to
sign up. If your last name begins with A-La, sign up with Ms. Abrams,
for Le- Z, sign up with Mr. Saraceno. We both also have shorter
drop-in appointments every day at lunch and after school for all
juniors and seniors.
5. Are you interested in being senior prom King or Queen? There will
be an informational for candidates this Friday during lunch in D148.
Events/ Performance
1. Dance Projects: Thursday and Friday, May 24 and 25 featuring live
musical accompaniment by some of the best BHS musicians..
The show starts at 8 PM. Get there early for tickets; students and
seniors $5/ adults $10.
Sales
1. Yearbooks are going fast, get yours now! Beginning May 8th
yearbooks will be on sale during lunch, Tuesday - Thursdays on the
Community Theater steps until the end of the month cost is $80.
Checks and cash only.
Jobs
*1. Prom is expensive, but here is an easy way to make cash fast: I
am looking for a strong High School student to help with heavy
lifting/hauling job. This is a one time only job, preferably next
week. Pays $$$ Use of a truck is recommended, but not required.

2. Recreation jobs- the City of El Cerrito has immediate openings for
students working with children of all ages in various recreation
settings - summer and year round employment available. Applicants
must be at least 16 years old. Apply at the El Cerrito Community
Center, 7007 Moeser Lane, El Cerrito 94530 or email resume to Cori
Diaz at [ mailto:cdiaz at ci.el-cerrito.cs.us ]. Pay $7.83 - $14.87 per
hour depending on qualifications and experience.
