Administration
1. Good morning Berkeley High! This week is Unity Week! Thursday is
the Health Awareness Fair. Friday is Hip Hop and Art Day. Be on the look
out for fliers and lunch activities. One love! One Struggle! One People!
*2. Jr. Prom tickets will be available for pick up after school in the box
office.
*3. Do you have a prom dress? Would you like to come by D148 and look for a
dress? Stop by and look at donated dresses.
5. Hey Berkeley High School - April is STI Awareness Month. Come get
tested at the Health Center. The appointment will only take 20
minutes. April 9th through the 20th in H105. Open 8:30 - 4 PM and
closed everyday during 4th period.
6. Counselors will be in the Library 7th period everyday this week to help
you with your schedule for next year. Friday, April 20th is the last day
to make changes, so please be sure to show up!
*7. Saxophone for sale- Lower end professional/ upper-end intermediate
model. Contact Danny at 916-508-9305 for details.
8. Dance Production 2008 auditions are here! Class of '08 and '09.
Come to the stage in the A building at lunch and after school April 12-19 to
learn the audition pieces. The audition will be after school on Thursday,
April 19th. No dance training necessary.
9. Weekend work available - Make $10-$20 per hour marketing on
weekends for 2-6 hours. No experience needed, reliable transportation
is preferred. Call 707-480-2908. Ask for Bryan.
Clubs
1. CSF members: Do you want to have a leadership position in the Berkeley
High's chapter of CSF next year? Applications for CSF President,
Vice-President, Secretary and Treasury are now available on Edna Harris'
desk in D221. Applications due Friday, May 4th in D221.

Senior / Junior Section
*1. Seniors- Grad goodies, announcements and other things besides caps and
gowns will be available for pick up on April 20th during lunch. Look for
the white tent. If you have not ordered your cap and gown, you may do so then.
*2. Senior class royalty: There is a mandatory meeting this Thursday
during lunch for anyone interested in being Sr. Class Prom King or Queen.
The meeting will be held in D148.
3. If you would like to discuss your options for next year or
need help understanding and comparing your financial aid packages, please
stop by to see Ilene Abrams or Mr. Saraceno any day at lunch or after
school.
4. May 1 Deadline- May 1 is the deadline to send in your Statement of
Intent to Register (SIR) to most colleges and universities. For most
schools, if you do not send in your SIR and your deposit (if required) by
May 1, you will not be able to attend that school in the fall. You may only
send in a SIR to one school. It is unethical to tell more than one school
that you plan to attend their college in the fall. If you have questions
at all, please stop by to see Ms. Abrams or Mr. Saraceno at lunch or after
school.
5. The following Cal State campuses are still accepting applications: Cal
Maritime, Bakersfield, Chico, Dominguez Hills, East Bay, Fullerton
(computer science and engineering only), Los Angeles, Monterey bay,
Northridge, Sacramento, San Bernadino, Stanilaus, Humboldt (will close May
31), San Jose, and Sonoma.
6. St Mary's College Fair. Saturday, April 28, 1:00-4:30 PM. This is
the biggest college fair in the East Bay. Representatives from over 150
different colleges and universities will be available to speak with you. In
addition, come to free workshops on admissions, financial aid, the UC, CAL
State and community college systems, recruited athletes and Historically
Black Colleges and Universities. St. Mary's College in association with the
BHS Academic Choice program is sponsoring the cost of buses that will go
directly from BHS to the College Fair in Moraga. Buses will leave BHS
Saturday afternoon (April 28th) at 12:30 PM and return around 4:00 PM,
which will allow students to visit the college booths and enjoy St. Mary's
beautiful campus. Interested students should buy tickets for the bus
to St. Mary's -- only $2.00!! -- from Mrs. Harris in the College and
Career Center.
You can also take BART to the Orinda BART station and get a free shuttle to
St Mary's College from there.
Events/ Performance
1. Save the date! The Fourth Annual BHS Health and Wellness Fair will
be held on Thursday, April 19th. This year's fair will be on the
football field from 1st through 4th period, and students must arrive
with their classes. Come enjoy fun games and activities and get
important information on healthy eating and physical activity! Blood
pressure testing, a MADD crashed car, nutritious food samples,
give-aways and prizes, a KMEL DJ and a dance off during lunch.
2. Free concert on Thursday night! Come hear pieces by Holst,
Mendelson, Tchaikovsky, and Dvorak. Led by Karen Wells, the
BHS Band and Orchestra performs with alacrity and ease. Critics have
called past performances "spellbinding" and a real tour de force. The band
and orchestra are here for one night only. Don't miss your chance to
come hear some superbly crafted music this Thursday night at 7:30 PM in the
Community Theater. Did we mention that it's FREE?
