STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
March 20, 2007

Administration

1. CAHSEE(California High School Exit Exam) TODAY-March 20th
(English/Language Arts)and March 21st (Math) for 10th, 11th and 12th
grade students who have not passed or who missed the test in February.

2. Berkeley High, it's your turn to help!  Donate your spare change
and dollars to Pennies for Patients-an organization that financially
supports kids with Cancer.  Look for students carrying white boxes to
donate.

3. If you are interested in being Jr. Prom King or Queen come to D148
or look for up coming informational posters.

*4. Students and staff please be aware that file size quotas will be
implemented on the computers over the next week. If you have large
files (mp3s, executables, large graphics, etc.) on your x drives, you
will want to back them up elsewhere.  Large files left on the X drive
may be deleted.

*5. There will be Berkeley High Court trail occurring on today, March
20th and March 21st.  Students interested in learning more about the
program, observing one of our trails, or participating by sitting on a
jury is encouraged to attend.  Get there early for refreshments.

*6. Are you looking for a job?  Trader Joes's in El Cerrito is
currently looking for employees.  Call 524-1609 ands ask for Micah.

7. Anyone planning on signing up for AP Environmental Science for
2007-2008 school year must attend an informational meeting on Friday
of this week at lunch in G209.

8. BYA is looking for volunteers to tutors and participate in sports
for students in Elementary and Junior high.  Days and times are
flexible, pls call 647-0712.

9. City of Berkeley Youthworks will hand out applications for the 2007
Summer Session.  Applications will be available March 5th-March 30th.
Completed applications must be returned by March 30th to be
considered.  Berkeley residents ages 14-21 can apply at 1947 Center St
(basement level) or call 981-4970.

10. Paramount Great America has seasonal positions available. Apply
online at http://www.pgathrills.com .  Students must be at least 15
years old to apply.


Clubs

*1. Attention all Cultural and Exchange club members: meeting today as
lunch in C105.  Come to an important planning meeting for Friday's
exchange during 2nd period.

*2. Ever feel like you are partying a little too hard?  Are you
worried about a friend or family member who drinks or smokes a little
to much? Come to a weekly, lunchtime open forum in room H110 to talk
more about this.  All information shared will be strictly confidential
and lunch will be provided.  Brought to you by the BHS health center.


Sports

*1.  Girls basketball- Girls going to the Arco on Saturday!!!  Support
the Lady Jackets...


Senior / Junior Section

*1. Spelman Summer Science Program- The Howard Hughes Summer Science
Program, sponsored by the Spelman College Biology Department is for
current female juniors with a minimum unweighted GPA of 3.0 interested
in pursuing careers in biology, biochemistry and other
biomedical-related fields.  The program is a five week residential
program from June-July 20.

2. Seniors: The Young Conservatory at American Conservatory Theater is
offering a special scholarship for high school seniors in Alameda
County to attend classes offered in the Spring session (March 19 - May
26, after school and weekend schedule) and their 4-week Summer Session
(daytime classes June 18 - July 13).  The spring class schedule and
scholarship application is available in D221.

3. Latino and Native American Association (LANA) - open to high school
seniors of Latino or Native American descent with a minimum 2.0 GPA.
Deadline:  April 2.  $500 scholarship.


Events/ Performance

*1. Are you funny?  Do your friends laugh at you're your jokes?
Submit articles to the Jacket April Fool's Edition!  The Jacket
editorial staff is accepting submissions. Now until Friday, March
23rd.  Please send all submissions as Microsoft word attachments to [

*2. Actors: Auditions for NOISES OFF- a play about sex, sardines,
affairs, and doors.  Male and female roles are available for this
hilarious physical comedy.  Information meeting at lunchtime on
Wednesday, March 28 in room H211. The play will be cast in April,
rehearsals start in the fall, performances in December.  Audition sign
up sheets are posted in room H211.  If you can't make the information
meeting or have questions, call Molly Bell at 388-5892.

*3. Auditions for 3 Comic One Act Plays- our Next Fall Big Production.
Auditions in A203.  The Drama room on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday
after school.

*4. Come to the Building with Books fundraiser dinner and auction!
There will be great food from around Berkeley and auction items of
gift certificates, Giant tickets, and more!  $10 -$20 for students and
$30 -$60 for adults!  Questions?  Contact Julia Schrogen or see Edith
Jordan in D148 for details.

*5. Fast, intense, excellent theater!  Youth Musical Theater Company
will rehearse and produce CABARET in three weeks this summer.  We're
holding auditions on March 26 and 27th , 4:00 - 9:00 pm at Willard
Middle School's Metal Shop Theater.  Three ways to get more
information and to sign up for audition time.  See flyer in the A
building posted. A brief meeting is on Tuesday, March 20th at 6:00 pm
in the Little Theater.


SALES

1. BART tickets are here.  Please pick up your tickets as soon as
possible.  Lunchtime only in room D224.

2. Jr. Prom tickets will be available on the community theatre steps
during lunch and in the box office after school ($55).  If you are
interested in being Jr Prom King please stop by D148.

*3. Yearbook important dates!  Friday is the last day to purchase a
senior page or a clubs page.  Please come to H102 during 7th period to
get yours.
