1. The fall "touring season" for prospective students began this
week. The small group tours are by reservation only. The tours
leave the front desk at 9:30 am and last about an hour. Many people
have asked if they could visit Berkeley High on their own or if their
student could "shadow" a current student. Unfortunately (or
fortunately) this simply is not possible. The school's priority is
focused on the education and security of our currently enrolled
students. We are simply too large a school to accommodate
unsupervised visitors. If you know anyone who would like to tour
Berkeley High, please have them contact Janet Huseby at
jhuseby at pacbell.net. Students are of course welcome on these tours
but they must be accompanied by their parent or guardian.

2. Please help spread the word that our annual Private School Night
is scheduled for Tuesday, November 21 at 7 pm in the Berkeley
Community Theater. This evening is an introduction to our school and
is primarily intended for students who are considering private
schools in addition to Berkeley High, though families currently
enrolled in the BUSD are welcome to attend.

In the spring each incoming ninth grader (class of 2011) and their
parent or guardian will be invited to attend two separate events.
Everyone will be invited to a meeting in the Community Theater to go
over program options. The date for this meeting has not been set.
Following the grand meeting BHS counselors will meet BUSD students
during the day at King, Willard and Longfellow and at night with
their parents. Students and their parents coming from private school
will meet with a counselor on the Berkeley campus. In all, we are
discussing eight meetings. As soon as these dates are set, we will
announce them on the etree.
