Your Berkeley High PTSA is proposing to provide a new service to the
Berkeley High community - an electronic homework site that will act
as a single point of access for teachers, students, and parents to
communicate homework assignments and testing schedules.
Participation in the homework site by Berkeley High teachers will be
entirely voluntary.
Teachers will not be required to use this site if they do not want
to. It is our hope that teachers will come to see this site as a
labor saving device and that their participation will be rewarded by
a positive change in their students' academic performance. Parents
and students will be able to log on to the site and access, on a
weekly or a monthly calendar, homework assignments and test schedules
for all of their classes. It is hoped that this level of access will
enable parents to become active partners in their child's education.
Be sure to visit www.thehomeworksite.com to take advantage of this
new school service! Detailed instructions on how to locate Berkeley
High on the site and how to create your students user profile are
below. You are not limited to one user account per family - all
students and parents can have their own separate accounts with the
Homework Site.
Student/Parent Instructions for The Homework Site Program
1. Access your school's homework service by going to
www.thehomeworksite.com and choosing your state from the "Locate Your
School" dropdown box. Then, a list of school links in the chosen
state will appear. Click on the link for Berkeley High School.
2. Click on "Students/Parents."
3. Create a user profile (first-time users): Create your user
profile by clicking, "If you don't have an existing profile, create
one here."
4. Fill in the blanks on the screen by selecting first a User
Name, Email Address and then a Password. Your User Name will be much
easier to remember if you use your real name. Your Password can be
any series of numbers or letters. If you would like to be able to
retrieve forgotten passwords, then you must enter your email address.
You can pick any Password you like (just enter it twice, once in each
field exactly the same way). Passwords are case-sensitive. Click
"Continue."
5. Choose the teacher for each of your classes: Select your
teacher(s) from the drop-down list. If you have one teacher for
multiple classes/subjects, you will want to select that teacher
multiple times and then (in the next step below) select each of that
teacher's listed classes/subjects that you participate in. Click
"Continue."
6. Choose your classes/subjects: Now, from the drop-down list,
select the class/subject you take for each teacher (For example, if
you have 5 classes, you should have 5 drop-down lists in which to
select your 5 classes/subjects.) Click "Continue."
7. The program then comes back with your Log-in information
(Username and Password), which we suggest you write down in a safe
place for future reference. The email address you supplied is also
listed so please verify that it is correct or you will not be able to
retrieve forgotten passwords. The program also verifies the teachers
and classes that you selected for your profile. Click "Student Main
Menu" to continue.
8. You will be brought to your Homework page. Here you will see
homework for the current week of all your classes.
On the Homework Submenu, click on one of the following: "Daily,"
"Weekly," "Monthly" for a calendar view of your homework assignments
and test schedules.
Important Reminder - If you do not see assignments posted in a
specific class that does NOT indicate that there is no homework
assigned in that class!! It means that the teacher is NOT POSTING
the assignments on the site. Please let your teachers know how
helpful this site is and encourage them to use it!
If you have any problems, please email <support at thehomeworksite.com>
or call site support at (877)495-7483 (toll free) or (504)731-1977.
