True Admissions: College Essays by Berkeley High Students.

This book, a collection of 55 college essays, is a salute to our
students and, we believe, will be an  inspiration to its readers. 

About the book:
Bob Laird, former director of undergraduate admission, UC Berkeley
and author of The Case for Affirmative Action in University
Admissions, writes, "These essays encompass the richness of cultures,
achievements, experiences, and points of view within a remarkable
urban high school, and they demonstrate emphatically that there are
many different ways to write a smashingly effective college
application essay.  More than that, the vibrancy of this collection
reflects the extraordinary resurrection of Berkeley High."
 
The book is on sale now in the College Center and will also be
available at the Senior Awards Ceremony and at BHS graduation. The
book will cost $10 at school sales. All proceeds will go to the
Berkeley High Development Group to support the College and Career
Center. 
 
If your essay (or your child's essay) is included in  the collection,
you may pick up a complementary copy from Ms. Abrams in the College
Center. Contributors who do not come by the center will receive their
copy in the mail during the summer.
