Administration
1. SUMMER SCHOOL APPLICATIONS ARE HERE! Sign up in the counseling dept.
Summer school June 21- July 28th. Early
registration is May 3- May 26th. Don't delay,
get enrolled.
2. Attention students: Bart tickets have
not yet arrived, I am checking with Bart to find
out why we haven't received the tickets. More
information will be available to you tomorrow.
3. URGENT! Leadership meeting today at lunch in H214.
4. AP TEST- Students please do not forget to
bring your student ID pictures!
The test for today: in the Jacket Gym, 8:00 am:
Government and Politics: United States
5. Health Fact of the week: Higher doses of
caffeine can cause anxiety, dizziness, headaches,
the jitters, and can interfere with normal sleep
patterns. Know what you are putting in your
body, know the effects. Brought to you by the BHS
Health Center Youth Advisory Board.
6. "BACKSTAGE" for 9th through 12th grades.
BackStage is an apprenticeship program for
teenagers. Each apprentice will select a
particular focus for the summer such as:
choreography, stage and set design, music,
costuming, stage management or direction. During
the course of their apprenticeship, participants
will assist with a youth drama camp, and will
receive a small stipend. Call 521-6250 for more
information.
7. If any one saw a candy bowl in Room A100
please return to the admin office immediately.
This bowl was special gift and has sentimental
value. Reward if found, no questions asked.
8. Youth volunteers needed at MOCHA: The
Museum of Children's Art in Oakland is seeking
High School students. For more information call

9. Student needed for garden work near Live
Oak Park- 3-5 hours per week, after school and
Saturdays, times are flexible. Salary: $8 -10
per hour. Sophomore or junior student preferred.

Clubs
1. The last two trials of the Berkeley High
Student Court will be held on Tuesday and
Wednesday. Both start at 5:00 PM. Trials are
held across the street in the Berkeley City
Council Chambers, on the second floor of Old City
Hall.
2. Wanna be safe? Come to condom club on
Wednesday, May 10th in G103 at lunch.
Sports
1. In the final league race of the season at
Norcal, the mens' and womens' crew teams won 14
out of 18 events. This included 5 events where
Berkeley won by more than 20 seconds as well the
men winning a race in a sculling boat- in which
they have never practiced or raced. Events won
for the men
were Varsity $, JV$, Lightweight $, Freshman 4,
Novice 4, Novice 8 and Quad sculling 4. The
women won in the Varsity 8, JV8, 3rd varsity 8,
Freshman 8, Varsity 4, and JV 4. The crew teams
now head to the regional championships in two
weeks at Lake Natoma outside Sacramento, with
chances to qualify for the US Rowing National
Invitational in Cincinnati.
2. The list of Badminton Players
participating in league meet is posted in D218.
3. Open gym volleyball is available on
Thursdays 4:30-5:30 in the Donahue Gym on 5/11,
5/18, 5/25, 6/1. Open gym is available to all
Berkeley High Girls.
Senior / Junior Section
1. College Visits:
UC Berkeley- May 10th
1:20 PM: UC Berkeley summer session-find out
about interesting classes to improve your skills
and GPA over the summer. Sign up in D221 to come
to the presentation.
2. Scholarships- CSf Sealbearer- You must be
a member of CSF for at least 4 semesters,
including one semester during senior year;
demonstrate financial need, and plan to attend a
college in the fall of 2006-Applications in D221.
Deadline- May 18.
3. Seniors! Have you recently turned 18?
Will you be 18 by June 6, 2006? If so, stop by
D148 and pick up a voter Registration card in
order to vote in the June 6th primary Election.
4. Nancy Elizabeth Branch 2006 African
American Scholarship- Open to African-American
seniors planning to attend a four year college.
Applications available in D221. Scholarship:
$1,000. Deadline: May 31st.
5. Seniors- Full time summer jobs available
with the Social Security Administration, 1221
Nevin Avenue, Richmond, across from the Richmond
BART station. Pay $11.34 per hour. Low income
students are given priority for employment.

6. Seniors! Our time here at Berkeley High
School has almost come to an end. Graduation is
around the corner! Do you want to be a part of
the show? Are you a speaker, artist, or dancer?
Come to the try out on May 9 and 10th starting
6th period in the Community Theater. Sign up
with Ruby
at the front desk. Have something creative
prepared. We want to see all your diverse
talents. Be there!
7. Seniors! Seniors! Need a little extra
ends? Well the register of voters is in need of
Poll Workers in your local area to assist with
polling place set-up and check in. The pay is a
whopping $90. See Mrs.
McKnight for more information.
Events/ Performance
1. SENIORS- there is a senior trip to Santa
Cruz on June 6th. Buy your tickets now! Tickets
are $25 and will be sold each day at lunch on the
community theatre steps.
2. If you want to record your music- rap,
beats, or string quartets- you can come to the
CAS sound studio for complete professional
support from our professional student engineers.
Cut your own CD! If you are interested, see Mr.
Ayers in room C324 to sign up.
3. Opera Club! If you are interested in
getting incredibly cheap ($30) tickets to the SF
Opera and seeing world class performances, check
this. Attend Madam Butterfly by Puccini on May
30 (Tuesday). Space is limited so purchase your
ticket now! See Mr. Ayers in C324.

1. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at
lunch and after school. They are $70 dollars.
