2005/2006 (Summer 2006)

Welcome to Berkeley High Summer School! We look forward to a
productive and valuable school experience for ALL students. The
Summer School Office will be located in H104 beginning June 19, 2005,
and may be reached at 644-6208. Questions regarding summer school
may be directed to your counselor through June 15th.
Enrollment Policy
Summer Session is open to all current BUSD students in grades 9-12
who are at risk of not graduating or who need remediation.
Registration forms from non-Berkeley residents will not be processed.
See your counselor for summer school applications.

SUMMER SCHOOL ENDS: JULY 28
Students may pick up completed schedules on Tuesday, June 20,
1:00-3:00 p.m. or Wednesday, June 21 7:15 - 8:30 a.m. in the Food
Court

Attendance & Course Credit Policy
Students enrolled in Summer Session may not miss more than SEVEN (7)
hours or three (3) days of class instruction for any reason in order
to receive credit for a course. Each course is two hours and
nineteen minutes. There are no excused absences or tardies in Summer
School. Students are considered absent if they miss more than 20
minutes of one class. Three (3) tardies will equal one absence.
Please be advised and plan your summer vacations or activities
accordingly.
Credits are earned at a rate of five (5) per course. Students
enrolling in two courses will earn a total of ten credits upon
successful completion of those two classes.
Discipline Policy
All students are expected to comply with rules and regulations of the
regular school program. Infractions or violations of school rules
may be grounds for dismissal from the summer school program. All
students should:
* Be on time & prepared for class.
* Demonstrate courteous and respectful behavior with students and
adults.
* Cell phones, headphones, pagers or radios must be off and out of
sight in class.
* Dress in a manner that is conducive to the learning process.
Special Education
Special Education students with an Extended School Year (ESY)
indicated on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP) are eligible
for Special Education Summer School. IEP/ESY students must complete
the Special Education Confirmation Notice for summer school and
return it to the District Special Education Office and then fill out
the BHS application to select courses.
All other Special Education students (without the Extended School
Year designation) may sign up for and attend general education
classes during summer school.
Structured English Immersion Program: Summer
These special courses are available only to current 9-11th grade ELLs
attending BHS. Please see farther down for course offerings.
High School Exit Exam Preparatory Program
(For students graduating with the Class of 2007 and beyond who have
not passed either (or both) portions of the High School Exit Exam.)
Senior Diploma Program
Current seniors who need up to three additional classes to graduate
(not more than 15 credits,) may enroll in the Senior Diploma Program.
The Senior Diploma program is an independent study style program.
