STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1.	The MORP (Prom backwards) is scheduled 
for March 10th from 6:30-10 PM in the BHS Food 
Court.  This is an informal prom- guest list is 
open to all students.  Tickets are $5.00 per 
students and only BHS students can attend.  You 
can purchase tickets at lunch from the box office 
on Allston
Way.  Special Guest Artist will be performing!  See you there!

2.	STAFF- if possible can you leave the 
parking spaces (G1-G3) open in the blue placards 
area.  We have three staff members who actually 
have blue placards and are not able to use the 
spaces 90% of the time.

3.	Prom-goers get ready!  This Friday , 
March 10th is the Annual Prom Fair.  We will have 
vendors for all of your apparel and 
transportation need.  Also, a special well-known 
performer will be in the courtyard to entertain.

4.	Attention all students interested in 
running for a student government office for the 
2006-2007 school year.  There will be an 
informational meeting at lunch on Wednesday, 
March 8th in conference room B.  Applications 
will be available for the first time at the prom 
fair.

5.	Career / Job Fair "Pathways to Success," 
Thursday, March 9th.  Guest Speakers and many 
representatives.  Community Theater, Little 
Theater, and the courtyard.

6.	Come audition for Dance Production 2007! 
This year's sophomores and juniors are invited to 
audition for next year's class.  The Audition is 
next Thursday, March 16th after school. 
Rehearsals start this Wednesday at lunch.  Come 
see Ms. Carr in the A building for more info.  If 
you love to dance, come on by!

7.	Student and staff please check the Parent 
Resource Center for lost items.  Due to space 
issues items can only be kept for short period of 
time.

8.	Are you missing a coat, sweater, t-shirt, 
pants, etc?  Please stop by the PE office before 
and after school and during lunch to pick up your 
items.  Unclaimed items will be donated to 
Goodwill.


Clubs
1.	Thanks to the enthusiastic students who 
made our first Library Lunchtime Café a success! 
Based on their input, we will continue our 
lunchtime cafes on Mondays, Wednesdays and 
Fridays.  Bring your lunch; eat at a table with 
flowers and a tablecloth.  Feed your body and 
your mind at the same time!

2.	Don't forget- Earphone English is in C116 
at lunch on every Wednesday.  Never listened to 
an audiobook?  Come borrow one this Wednesday 
without going  to the library or book store.

3.	The club commissioners meeting has been 
rescheduled to Thursday March 16th at lunch in 
conference room A.

4.	Physical inactivity increases the risk of 
dying prematurely, dying of heart disease and 
developing diabetes, colon cancer, and high blood 
pressure.  Stay active.  Stay healthy. Brought to 
you by the BHS Youth Advisory Board.

5.	Wanna be safe?  Come to G103 at lunch on 
Wednesday, March 8th to join  condom club.

6.	The book drive for Oakland Children's 
Hospital is still going!  Bring books to your 2nd 
period class and win a pizza party!

7.	Do vegetarians like animals or do they 
just hate plants?  Come find out at the 
vegetarian club.  There will be free food.  Today 
at lunch in H114.


Sports
1.	Berkeley Girl's advance to the Norcal 
Division I tournament.   They play at Castlemont 
at Cal State East Bay (formerly Cal State 
Hayward) at 6:00 PM.  Winner advances to 
semi-final on Thursday evening.  Come out to 
tonight's game and support the Lady Jackets.  No 
passes are accepted for
this event.  Tickets are $9 and $6.

2.	The Berkeley High crew teams dominated 
their races this weekend.  On Saturday, the men's 
and women's novice teams had a great showing at 
the Novice regatta.  The men won Gold in the 
Freshman 4, while the women won Gold in the 
Freshman 8.  The men's Varsity 8, women's varsity 
8 and JV8 boats came in first place in both their 
races.  The men's JV8 and women's 3V8 came in 
second in their races.  Go Jackets!


Senior / Junior Section
1.	The final days to order your cap and gown 
for graduation is here.  The Josten's 
representative will be on campus, Thursday, March 
9th at lunch in the courtyard.  If you haven't 
ordered, now is the time!

2.	Meleia Willis-Starbuck Memorial 
Scholarship For Social Justice- Graduating senior 
who plans to attend two or four year college next 
year who has participated in work to further the 
cause of Social Justice, has financial need and a 
minimum GPA of 2.5.  Applications available in 
D221.
Received Deadline: March 30th at 4:00 pm in D221.

3.	Seniors!  Did you miss your Senior 
Portrait appointment!  Did you forget to schedule 
one?  Well, you now have one more opportunity to 
be featured on the Senior Formal Memory poster. 
Appointments are available on March 15th and 16th 
from 2:30-7:00 PM here at BHS.  Contact

4.	Chicano-Latino Youth Leadership Project 
Summer conference.  Open to current 10th and 11th 
graders, the conference will take place at 
Sacramento State University from July 29-August 
5.  The conference is free to students who are 
selected.  Applications are available in D221. 
Deadline: March 22.


Events/ Performance
1.	BLACK HISTORY EVENT- Morrie Turner 
celebrated cartoonist, BHS class of 1942- will be 
here Wednesday, March 8th @7 PM in the BHS 
Library.  All families welcome.

2.	Come  see the 14th Annual Youth Arts 
Festival presenting the visual art of students in 
Berkeley High's new  small school AHA, as well 
as,  students in Advanced Placement Art.  It runs 
from March 8th through April 1st at the Berkeley 
Art Center in Live Oak Park.  1275 Walnut st. 
Gallery is open Wednesday through Sundays from 
noon -5 PM.  644-6893.  All are welcome to the 
gala opening reception Wednesday, March 8th from 
6-8 PM.  Also mark your calendars for an AHA 
performing arts event "Zorro Remixed" on March 
24th at 8 PM at the Berkeley Art Center.   For

3.	Coming March 11, Barbara Austin of 
College Quest will render a two hour presentation 
on "How to write an essay that's worth $150,000. 
and more."  Saturday, March 11th from 10-12 noon 
in BHS College Career Center.  Don't miss it!

1.	BART ticket orders will be taken March 
30, and 31st at lunchtime in room D224.
  Price per ticket is $16.00

2.	Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at 
lunch and after school.  They are $70 dollars.
