Calling all BHS Theater People!
Berkeley Repertory Theatre will be hosting the Teen Theatre
Conference (TTC), the theme of which is "Improving the Quality of
High School Theatre" in the Bay Area. The conference will be held on
March 18, 2006 from 1:00 to 5:45 PM at the Berkeley Rep School of
Theatre. The day will include a panel discussion featuring theatre
professionals including Berkeley Rep managing director Susie Medak
and Berkeley Rep dramaturg Madeleine Oldham and various seminars on
different areas of theatre.
Berkeley High students are invited to participate in this event.
The organizer of this conference is the Berkeley Rep Teen Council,
many members of which go to Berkeley High. Teen Council would like to
offer its resources and give students advice that they can bring back
to their own drama departments. Participants will come to the
Berkeley Rep School of Theat! re for TTC on March 18, 2006. The first
activity will be a panel discussion where speakers will talk about
"The Collaborative Nature of Professional Theatre." The next part of
the conference will consist of specialized seminars led by theatre
professionals. Students should come prepared with questions about the
difficulties they face in their schools, and seminar leaders will try
to address these questions. Everyone will reconvene at the end of the
day to recap the previously discussed issues and discuss how to apply
the professional process to high school work. By 5:45 PM, the
participants will have new ideas to bring back to their schools and a
good feel for the fundamental steps of putting on a show in the
professional theatre world.
Students who are interested in registering for TTC or want more
information should get in touch with us at
teencouncil at berkeleyrep.org or call 510-647-2971! to receive a
registration form. We hope to see many BHS students there!
Sincerely,
