Administration
1. BSEP meeting will be Monday, January 9th
at 4:30 PM in conference room B.
2. Vista Community College is offering an
African American studies class for High School
Students (History of Hip Hop). Receive college
and High School credit. Free. The class starts
Saturday 1/14/06 from 10 AM -1 PM. Please call
Rebecca Mireles for more information 253-5701.
3. All sophomore student council members
please attend a meeting this Thursday, January
5th in Ms. McKnight-Johnson's office at lunch in
D148.
4. PSAT scores are here! Students may pick
up their scores in the College/Career Center on
Friday at lunchtime and from 3:15 to 4:00 ONLY or
after the winter break.
5. "What's up with College: A reality
check." Come hear the true story about going to
college! Recent Berkeley High Graduates will be
on campus Thursday, January 5th at 6:30 PM in the
College Career Center. Hear personal stories
about real college experiences. There will be an
informal discussion with students from a wide
range of schools. Ask questions college reps
never really answer.
Clubs
1. The Writer's Café will not be open in
January. But we'll resume at the beginning of
2nd semester during lunch, so stay tuned!
2. The Club Commissioners meeting will be on
Thursday, January 12th at lunch in Conference
room A. All club representatives must attend.
3. Clubs! Do you want to be in the
yearbook? Come to H102 during 7th period to
reserve your pages by January 20th. $25 for a
quarter page, $50 for a half page and $100 for a
full page. All pages need to be in by February
24th.
4. Do you believe today's political
situation is in need of your help and your voice?
Come to the World Can't Wait Activist Club to
work with your peers in a common goal of making
this world a better place. Come Thursdays at
lunch in room C134.
Sports
1. Football! Football! Football! Football
meeting for all individuals interested in playing
next year. The meeting starts Thursday, January
5th at 3:30 PM in G210. Anyone who did not play
last year is welcome and encouraged to attend.
See you there!
2. All girls interested in playing BHS
softball, should come to a meeting at lunch on
Thursday at the bleachers. In case of rain, meet
in the lobby of the Donahue Gym.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Missed the Cal State Deadline? Many Cal
State campuses are still accepting applications.
For a complete list come by D221 or go to
<www.csumentor.edu> and click on "Still Accepting
Applications?"
2. AXA Achievement Community Scholarship
(please note this is different than the other AXA
scholarship): open to seniors who are US
citizens or legal residents who are planning to
attend two or four year college in the fall and
who have outstanding achievement in school,
community, or work activities. $2,000
scholarships. Applications available in D221.
Deadline is February 17, 2006.
Events/ Performance
1. Did you love RIZE and Mad Hot Ballroom??
Come out and see the real deal! Berkeley High
School's Dance Production 2006 performs this
weekend and next: Friday and Saturdays, January
6,7,13, 14 @8 PM in the Little Theater. Students
$5/ General $10. Hip hop, Jazz, Modern and
Ballet- these dancers can bust a move like
nobody's business.
2. Dance production would like to
congratulate dancer Ramona Kelley on her
nomination as a national finalists for the
prestigious NFAA Arts Awards. Next week she will
travel to Miami, Florida along Julien Pollack and
Billy Buss.
SALES
1. BART ticket orders will be taken
Wednesday and Thursday for students who missed
the December Sales of BART tickets orders will be
taken at lunchtime only in room D224. Cash only!
Correct change would be greatly appreciated.
Students who did not pick up BART tickets for
December, please do so.
2. Winterball tickets are on sale at lunch
on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays at the Allston
Way box office. Tickets are $60.00. Students
must have ID and a students activities contract
on file.
3. Yearbooks are on sale in H102 everyday at
lunch and after school. They are $65 dollars.
