Below is important information for incoming Berkeley High freshmen
(current 8th graders) from Berkeley Unified School District (BUSD)
middle schools -- Class of 2010...  

1.
INFORMATION NIGHT FOR THE CLASS OF 2010
Wednesday, March 1, 2006
7:00-9:00 p.m. (Arrive early to secure parking)
BHS Community Theater, 1980 Allston Way (at Milvia)

An informational evening focusing on the many excellent school and
program choices BHS is offering in 2006.  A unique opportunity for
prospective 9th grade students and their families to hear a
comprehensive description of Small Schools, small learning
communities, departments, activities, clubs and athletics from
administrators, teachers, and students.  The information presented at
this event is essential for making informed choices about your
student's program at BHS. 

There will be an informal reception in the new Food Court. 

The new BHS Library and College/Career Center will be open to
visitors.

Please arrive early in order to secure parking. The presentation will
begin promptly at 7 p.m. in the Community Theater.


2.
CURRICULUM NIGHTS 2010
7:00 - 8:30 p.m.

Evening presentations for parent/guardians at each of the middle
schools.  Learn more about what you need to know to help your
students choose their 9th grade program and be successful at BHS.

King:       March 7
Willard:    March 14
Longfellow: March 21

The topics include the 9th grade curriculum, BHS graduation and
college eligibility requirements, math and science progressions,
course/school selection process, and a question-and-answer period.
Smaller meetings organized by BHS 9th grade support team members.  


3.
COURSE/SCHOOL SELECTION 

King:       March 9th/10th
Willard:    March 16th/17th
Longfellow: March 23rd/24th

Counselors visit BUSD middle schools during the school day to begin
the course/school selection process with students and their teachers.
The meeting will include information about BHS graduation and college
eligibility requirements, differences between middle and high school
and 9th grade programs.
