SAT WORD OF THE DAY: DESICCATE - to dry completely. Because it
weighs less, backpackers carry food that has been desiccated and then
add water when they are ready to eat it.

FINANCIAL AID NIGHT FOR SENIOR PARENTS: December 6, 6:30 p.m. in the
Berkeley High School library. Please come and bring all your
questions about financial aid, merit aid and scholarships. A
representative of the UC Berkeley Financial Aid Office will walk us
through the FAFSA, line by line and I will discuss the CSS Profile.

PRESENTATIONS
Thursday, December 1
8:30 a.m. US Air Force ROTC (seniors only)

DEADLINE TODAY FOR ALL UC AND SOME CAL STATE CAMPUSES
UC campuses - November 30 at 11:59 pm is the absolute deadline to
submit your UC applications.

Cal State campuses - November 30 at 11:59 pm is the priority deadline
to submit CSU applications. This is the absolute deadline for Chico,
Fullerton, Long Beach, Northridge, Cal Poly Pomona, Cal Poly San Luis
Obispo, San Diego, San Marcos and Sonoma and possibly other campuses.
It is also the absolute deadline for impacted majors on many
campuses. For daily updated information, check www.csumentor.edu.
Click on "Still Accepting Applications?", select "Undergraduate" and
"Fall 2006." You will then be able to read the Campus Notice for
each CSU campus.

SAT/ACT scores - remember that you are required to send official
scores to each campus where you are applying. You can do this by
going to www.collegeboard.com for SAT scores and www.act.org for ACT
scores. Simply entering your scores on your application is not
sufficient. You MUST send official scores. To send SAT scores to
all CSU campuses and pay only one $9 fee, use the code 3594
(csumentor). Scores must be sent separately to each UC campus. The
scores do not have to be received by the campuses by November 30th,
but send them now as it takes 4-6 weeks for each campus to receive
them.

ESSAY READERS
Do you need some help with your college application essay? Essay
readers will be available every day before school, at lunch, and
after school (except Friday after school) until November 30. Essay
