STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration

1.        All Leadership students:   General Assembly meeting will take 
place today at 3:15 PM in A105.  Please attend.

2.        If you are participating in CSF, you can also earn some of 
your 4 hours tutoring in G104 all day at lunch and after school.  
Please talk to Elizabeth Anderson, the Inclusion Specialist,  for more 
information.  Tutoring is due at the end of this semester.

3.        The next meeting of the Berkeley High School Site Council 
will be held today at the district office.  This will be a joint 
meeting with Shared Governance and will be an all day session to 
discuss the Berkeley High International High School proposal.  The 
meeting will be open to the public from 2:00 – 3:30 pm.

Clubs

1.        Come be a juror for the new Berkeley High Student Court.  
You’ll get community service and help your classmates not get 
suspended.  If you are interested, come to City Hall at 5 pm on Tuesday 
for a quick jury training before the trial.   City Hall is the building 
with the green dome across from the park. Don’t be late

2.        Are you an artist or writer?  Like to draw or take pictures?  
Then enter the National Drunk and Drugged Driving Prevention Month 
Poster-Essay
Contest.  It’s easy- create an original 8.5 x 11 poster and write a 200 
word or less essay on drunk and drugged driving prevention.  Turn in 
your entries to H105, the Health Center by Wednesday, December 7 for 
your chance to win some cool prizes.

3.        Opera Club!  Okay, the big excursion of the season.  The BHS 
Opera Club will be going to see Verdi’s La Forza Del Destino on 
Saturday, November 26th.  Let Mr. Ayers in C324 know if you want 
tickets right away.  They cost $30.  I also have the CD of the opera 
and we will arrange some pre-opera listening.

Sports
1.  Attention all Fall Athletes:  Please turn in all athletic equipment 
and uniforms before the Thanksgiving Holiday.  Athletic credit will not 
be given unless all equipment is cleared.  Football players need to 
turn in equipment to David White after school.  Field hockey players 
turn in uniforms to the athletic office.  Cross Country athletes turn 
in uniforms to Dave Goodrich.

Senior / Junior Section

1.        Seniors : Your order days are as follows for Jostens: 
Tuesday, November 29th (N-S)       Wednesday, November 30th (T-Z) 
Lunchtime:  ONLY you can pick up package information in the Admin 
office, counseling office, or in D148.

2.        Seniors, it's blood drive time.  Come to D148 to sign up to 
donate blood at this year's Red Cross Blood Drive in the Jacket Gym.  
All donors must be at least  17 years old.  Blood Drive will be held on 
Monday, December 5th.

3.        Metro PCS Community Scholars Program.  Open to seniors 
attending public high school in one of the Bay Area counties who plan 
to enroll full-time in a two or four year college or University and 
have a minimum GPA of 3.0 unweighted and who have volunteered in 
activities that give back to the student’s community. Applications are 
available in D221.  Deadline: December 19.  $1,000 scholarship.

4.        Did you know that you can apply to up to 31 colleges that are 
on the Common Black College Application for only a $35 fee?  Go to 
<www.eduinconline.com> for more information or stop by the 
College/Career Center.

5.        Experience the world through a Youth for Understanding 
international exchange opportunity.  Travel and study abroad for one 
year, one semester, or a summer in one of the 35 countries!  Gain the 
global skills, knowledge, and insights that will prepare you to succeed 
in this multicultural and interconnected world.  Many full scholarships 
are available.  A representative will be visiting BHS on Tuesday, 
November 29th at 8:30 am in D221.


Events/ Performance

1.       Young people, ages 15-24 make up half of all new HIV 
infections worldwide.  More than 6000 become infected everyday. The HIV 
Prevention
Program will be sponsoring a school-wide event on Thursday, December 
1st for World AIDS Day.  Stop by the Community Theater 8:00 AM to 4:00 
PM.  There will be displays, hands-on learning activities, a tour of 
AIDS memorial quilt panels, as well as panels made to BHS students.  
Come by, STOP AIDS, and keep the promise.

2.        Extra Dance Projects 2005 DVDS are available for purchase.  
Please see Mrs. Carr for details.

3.        Class of 2008!  Mrs. McKnight-Johnson needs your help.  We 
need input on Winter Ball locations.  There are 2 choices for January 
28th:   A) San Francisco Bay Cruise or Hs. Lordships Restaurant.  Both 
locations cost $50. See Ms. McKnight-Johnson ASAP!


SALES

1.        BHS Wearables will be sold Fridays from 3:15-3:45pm at the 
Athletic Directors office, by Donahue Gym.  PJ bottoms, hoodie 
sweatshirts, t-shirts and sweats.  Contact Mary Kay Murlas,
