Help Wanted for Katrina Victims

AHA, a local non profit housing provider is offering 8 apartments
free of charge to Katrina victims who have relocated to Berkeley.
Rebuilding Together has offered to help get these much needed
apartments ready for occupancy.

Where: 2121 Allston Way, Berkeley. The cross street is Seventh Street
(directly across from Rosa Parks School)

When: 9 AM each day

Here is what we need:

October 1: Volunteers to help wash down the walls and do some minor
patching. We also need a couple of people with some tools and skill
in order to install some door knobs and hang a door. lease bring
cleaning supplies from your home such as simple green or 409 and some
rags, (large bath towels seem to work well hey cover more wall area!)
and sponges. Buckets are important too! Anybody who has a six foot
step ladder should bring it as well.

Volunteers to help paint 8 apartments. Bring ladders and brushes if
you have them.

This is just the first step. We hope to do many things to supply
these families and make them feel welcome. Furniture will be
necessary as well, such as; beds, dressers, couches, tables, chairs,
etc...
