Below is an announcement for parents of children who are in special
education, parents who suspect that their child may have a learning
disability and professionals who work in special education.

SPECIAL EDUCATION INFORMATION AND ASSISTANCE – Workshops and Clinics
(All these events are FREE, but families must register at
510-644-2555)

Parent Advocates from the Disability Rights Education & Defense Fund
(DREDF), a U.S. Dept. of Education Parent Training & Information
Center, will be conducting a  workshop on the Individual Education
Program (IEP)  process and the changes in the Individuals with
Disabilities Education Act, IDEA 2004, this Saturday, Sept. 24 from
10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the Main Branch of the Berkeley Public
Library, 2090 Kittredge, Berkeley.

Time:          7:00 pm – 9:00 pm
Where:         St. Paul’s AME Church, 2024 Ashby Street (at Adeline),
Berkeley

Where:         Ala Costa Center, 1300 Rose Street, Berkeley (at Cedar
Rose Park)

In DREDF’s one-to-one clinics you’ll have an opportunity to work with
a parent advocate to create an effective IEP for your child or ask
questions specific to you child’s situation.

***You MUST register in advance for an appointment at the clinics.
