STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1. Checks are ready to be picked up for overpaid AP test fees. Please
see Mrs. Reed in room D173.
2. Big book – A Chorus Line Score book is lost. If anyone knows of its
whereabouts, please contact Mr. Winer, ASAP.
3. JOB opportunity with the City of El Cerrito: Recreation jobs for
students ages 16-19 as counselors, assistant counselors and lifeguards.
For more information, call 510-559-7002 or 7006. Pay range: $7.37 to
$13.99.
Clubs
1. There will be a mandatory meeting for all members of the Ping Pong
Club participating in the Health Fair today at lunch. We will be asked
to sell T-shirts, so all members are encouraged to attend.
Sports
1. Attention all winter and fall Athletes: Turn in all uniforms and
equipment to the athletic office after school by today 4/19.
Senior / Junior Section
1. Presentation: Today, April 19th at 10:30a.m. WyoTech will talk about
career opportunities in the aviation industry(technical, aircraft
mechanics). Several thousands jobs will become available ion the next
decade-especially in the technical field.
2. Scholarships: Outstanding Chinese American Student Award- Recipient
must be available on June 26 at the awards dinner to accept the award.
Application and essay. Deadline: April 30.
3. Gill Scholarships #2: Senior attending college in the fall with
established financial need and academic potential. Essay and two
letters of recommendation required/. $1,000 scholarship renewable for
three additional years. Deadline: April 21.
4. Seniors: This is your chance to be recognized! The Senior Awards
Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:00 pm in the Community
Theater. Pick up the Senior Awards ceremony form in the College/Career
Center and let us know about scholarships, awards and honors you have
won. Deadline: Wednesday, May 11, so you can be listed in the program.
5. All Seniors who have participated in CSF and may qualify for seal
bearer status please check the official list in the SLC.
6. Dear Seniors: Now that you have heard from the colleges of your
choice, we hope that you will consider submitting your personal college
essay for possible publication in the Berkeley High Book of College
Essays.” Profits from the book will be used to help future BHS students
in college application process. You can email your essay to Janet
Huseby at <jhuseby at pacbell.net> or give a copy to Mrs. Harris in the
college center.
7. Free SAT II workshops at UC Berkeley: April 23 – Math IIC or
Spanish. To register send an email to: <register4ptps at yahoo.com>.

8. Juniors: if you haven’t yet made an appointment with the College
Advisor, go to D221 to sign up now.
Events/ Performance
1. April is National Poetry Month. Compose a poem with the magnetic
words on the white board in the library. Choose a book to check out
from our
large and varied collection of poetry. Read one of our novels written
in poetry format. Celebrate the written word from around the world.
2. College Fair, April 30, 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. : College Fair at
St, Mary’s College of California, Moraga. This is the biggest college
fair of the
year, with over 150 colleges represented. There will also be workshops
on admissions, financial aid, athletics, Black colleges, and some
Spanish. Take BART to Orinda and catch the shuttle to the fair! Don’t
miss this!
3. Celebrate National Library Week! Take advantage of the BHS
Library’s collection of books, magazines, databases and other materials
selected with the students in mind. Pick up a special bookmark and
visit the library this week.
3. The Parent Resource Center is sponsoring its first BHS Family Day
Picnic, Saturday, April 30th and all BHS families are invited. Pack
your picnic baskets; drinks and ice cream will be provided.
4. Teachers: Bring your classes to the Health and Wellness Fair on
Thursday, April 21st. (1st -7th period). There will be a KMEL
DANCE-OFF during lunch that day in front of the Community Theater.
Sales
1. Senior Prom tickets go on sale Wednesday at lunch in the Allston Way
Box Office . Tickets are $60. get them early!
2. Bart tickets go on sale again on April 28th and 29th -- during
lunch.
