STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN

Administration
1. BSEP surveys are available in the administrative office. You can
pick up a written copy, or you may get it electronically on the BHS
Etree. If
you are having problems getting a copy of this survey please feel free
to contact Belinda McDaniel at 644-4800, or email

2. Lunchtime performance on the Senior Steps. Local Bay Area artist
giving back to the community. Come out and enjoy Hip Hop and R& B.
3. The final Josten’s ordering day is Friday, April 15, at lunch. If
you’re planning to participate in the graduation on June 17, 2005,
please order this Friday at lunch in the courtyard.
4. Dancers of all kinds: Come audition for next year’s Dance Production
class. The audition is after school, today, April 14. Workshops to
learn
the audition dance are this week and next, during lunch and after
school on the Community Theater Stage. Sophomores and Juniors are
eligible to
audition. Come show us your moves!! Questions? Talk to Ms. Carr in
the A building.
5. We are collecting money and stuffed animals for teen mothers. This
is a Girl Scout troop working with the Health Centerto provide care for
teen mothers. Please turn in animals or donations to Mrs. Trahan in
C311.
6. JOB opportunity- City of El Cerrito recreation jobs for students
ages 16-19 as counselors, assistant counselors and lifeguards. For
more
information, call 510-5597002 or 7006. Pay range: $7.37 to $13.99.
Clubs
1. Good morning Class of 2005: All seniors participating in Black
Graduation please bring your dollars to H214 today at lunch. The
deadline has passed. Please make payments ASAP.
2. Attention BHS – Young women speak on it is rescheduled. Next
meeting will be Thursday, April 21, 2005. Conference room B. Thank
you, Shannon.
Sports
1. Soccer players- please return your uniforms, shorts, and sweats into
Mr. Juarez in room C127. You can come pick up your soccer pictures at
that time.
Senior / Junior Section
The Jr. Prom is Saturday, April 16, 2005 from 8pm – 12 am. A few
reminders:
1) Doors close at 10:00 p.m..
2) The dress code is strictly enforced: Formal!
3) ID required for all non BHS students and for BHS students w/o a
picture on your ticket.
4) A ticket is required for all students.
5) Tickets will be distributed at lunch from the D building box office.
Thursday and Friday.
2. Seniors: this is your chance to be recognized! The Senior Awards
Ceremony will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:00 pm in the Community
Theater. Pick up the Senior Awards Ceremony form in the College/Career
Center and let us know about scholarships, awards and honors you have
won. Deadline: Wednesday, May 11, so you can be listed in the program.
3. All seniors who have participated in CSF and may qualify for seal
bearer status, please check the official list in the Student Learning
Center.
4. Dear Seniors: Now that you have heard from the colleges of your
choice, we hope that you will consider submitting your personal college
essay for possible publication in the "Berkeley High Book of College
Essays.” Profits from the book will be used to help future BHS students
in college application process. You can email your essay to Janet
Huseby at <jhuseby at pacbell.net > or give a copy to Mrs.Harris in the
College Center.
5. Free SAT II workshops at UC Berkeley, April 17 – Chemistry or US
History; April 23 – Math IIC or Spanish. To register send an email to:
<register4ptps at yahoo.com>. Flyers with room information available in
the College & Career center.
6. Morris and Juliet James Achievement Award- students must have
attended Berkeley Public elementary, middle and high schools,
participated in
community service and are interested in becoming a teacher or working
with people in another capacity- $2,000. Applications due in D221 by
April 15th.
7. Juniors: If you haven’t yet made an appointment with the College
Advisor, go to D221 to sign up now.
Events/ Performance
1. Celebrate National Library Week! Take advantage of the BHS
Library’s collection of books, magazines, databases and other materials
selected
with the students in mind. Pick up a special bookmark and visit the
library this week.
2. The Parent Resource Center is sponsoring its first BHS Family Day
Picnic, Saturday, April 30th, all BHS families are invited. Pack your
picnic baskets and drinks and ice cream will be provided.
3. Hey you! Want to be in the play next fall but not in ATPs? Come
and find out about auditions for “Production/Acting” class. This is a
7th
period class next fall that will put on a play. Unlike ATPS, this is
one production, not a yearlong course. Audition required. The group
audition
will be in A203 this Friday at 3:30. Wear comfy clothes.
4. Teachers: Bring your classes to the Health and Wellness Fair on
Thursday, April 21st, all day. (1st -7th period). There will be a
KMEL dance off during lunch that day in front of the Community Theater.
Sales
1. Juniors: Your official Junior Prom tickets have arrived! Please come
and pick them up at the Community Theater Box Office Mondays,
Wednesdays or Fridays at lunchtime. The last pick up day is Friday,
April 15. Don’t forget your receipts otherwise you will not receive
your invitation. Tickets are sold every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
at lunch.
2. BART tickets are here-- please pickup tickets at lunchtime only in
D148.
3. Bart tickets goon sale again April 28th and 29th at lunchtime.
