BUSD Board Updates from March 9 of interest to BHS

1. Report on Closed Session:
The board had discussion on Collective Bargaining and no action was taken.
A Special closed session has been scheduled on March 13, 2005 to continue
the discussion.

2.The Board is seeking applications for vacancies in these areas:
-Facilities Safety & Maintenance Oversight   Committee (FSMOC)
-School Construction Oversight Committee (SCOC)
-BUSD Facility Surplus Committee

3. The Board considered a resolution to amend the
WLC Architects contract to include a plan for a
regulation size baseball field. a dedicated space
for the Farmer’s Market, and the closure of Derby Street
between Martin Luther King Jr. Way and Milvia Street.
The Board rejected the resolution at this time, out of respect
for the current planning process. The current planning process
is bounded by the city streets. Further discussions about street
closure and alternate uses may occur in the future.
The current plan calls for the discussion of the
regulation size baseball field and the closing of Derby
Street to occur in the second phase of planning.

The BUSD School Board Meeting will be re-broadcast
on Berkeley Community Media Cable Channel 33 on
Sunday March 13, at 1:00PM.

All Board meetings are broadcast live on Berkeley
Community Media Cable Channel 33 and KPFB Radio
89.3, and re-broadcasted on channel 33 the following
Thursday morning at 9AM and often two times over the weekend.
