[BHS etree] MISC: UC COSMOS unique summer program for the science oriented

FOUR UC campuses---Davis, Irvine, SAN DIEGO (NEW) and Santa Cruz will be
enrolling high achieving high school students who excel in mathematics or
science in 4-week residential programs this summer. We are accepting
applications now until the March 15 deadline. All the information and
applications are available at www.ucop.edu/cosmos   web site, which also
links to the four campus-specific COSMOS programs and contacts. Please

UC Faculty who teach, and master high school teachers who also participate
at COSMOS.

Financial aid covering part or all of the $1273 tuition is available to any
student with documented need, and all application forms and the financial
aid application are available on the web page. The COSMOS website (
http://www.ucop.edu/cosmos/ ) has all the necessary contact names and direct
numbers for the four campuses (UC DAVIS, Irvine, San Diego and Santa Cruz).

 Deadline to apply (completed and all mailings) is March 15 for the summer
session.

COSMOS is open to high achieving 9th-12th graders, and we serve about 500 in
the summer at four different locations listed below.  It is a wonderful
life-changing experience,,,our kids all say so.  March 15 is fast
approaching,,,takes some time to do the application and get the paper mail
ins together (two teacher recommendations, grades, etc.)  Hope we see more
strong applicants from BHS this year.  Half our participants are usually
female, broadly diverse, from all over California and one third usually
qualify for financial aid (waives the whole tuition).
