Administration

1.  Attention all SENIORS!  Are you interested in going on the SENIOR 
TRIP? If so, please attend the MANDATORY informational meeting 
Wednesday, February 9th at lunch in the Little Theater.  If you have 
questions, check with Danielle Johnson, ASB president.

2.  The award-winning Jazz Ensemble, ranked #1 at this year's Redwood 
Empire Jazz Festival, and the Lab Band perform together at the Freight 
and Salvage Coffee House on Thursday, February 10th at 8:00 p.m.  
Tickets are $16.50 in advance--$17.50 at the door,  half price for 12 
and under, and $1 off for students and seniors.  Tickets can be 
purchased at the club, 1111 Addison St.  Call Lori at 527-8245 for more 
information.

3.  Great opportunity: Proctors needed second semester for periods 4 
and 5 to accompany a student to the YMCA.  Please contact Tamar Chaet 
in H106 (ASAP).

4.  Mr. Willson would like several Math TA’s (Teaching Assistants) for 
periods 1, 3, 4.  To apply please bring your proctor sign-up form from 
the counseling department to G201.

5.  Job opening:  Student needed to do light clerical work.  Contact 
Debbie Taylor at <Debbie at greatparents.net>  $8.00 per hour.

Clubs
1.  Attention CLIMBERS!  If you have a membership to Berkeley Iron 
Works, or have been thinking about joining and want more people to 
climb with, come to C213 on Thursday, February 10th at lunch to meet 
with fellow climbers and discuss creating a club.

2.  Ladies of BHS:  “Speak on It” meets every Thursday at lunch in 
Conference Room B.  Come join us as we talk about issues for and about 
young ladies.  Light lunch served.  See you there!

3.  Please come to Quiz Bowl practice in C316.  Have fun in Jeopardy 
format.

4.  Close-Up:  All Close-Up participants need to attend regular 
meetings on Wednesday at lunch in C400.  All participants need to be 
present.

5.  Culture and Exchange Club Members: Come to the first exchange of 
the spring semester.  Come get a permission slip from Mr. Berkman in 
C107 or C134.  Meeting is Thursday, Period 1 in C134.

Senior / Junior Section
1.	College visits:
February 15, 2005
8:30 a.m. DeVry University CANCELLED
(Offers associate degrees in electronics and computer technology, 
health information technology and network systems administration; 
bachelors Degrees in biomedical fields, business administration,
computers.  Sign up in the College/ Career Center.)

9:30 a.m.  Western Career College and Silicon Valley College

March 1, 2005
10:35 a.m.  Academy of Art University (The representative will speak 
about undergraduate programs as well as summer programs for high school 
students)

2.  Seniors- The representative from SF State will be in D221 on 
Wednesday, February 16 at lunchtime.  Please stop by see her if you 
have questions. If you still need to turn in your official transcript, 
you can give it to her at that time.

3.  Get help filing out your financial aid documents every Tuesday and 
Thursday in the College Center from 2:30 to 4:30.  No sign-ups are 
necessary.

4.  Scholarships for students interested in a career in public safety- 
fire service, emergency medical services.  Interested students should 
submit a one page statement for consideration to: Kevin White, Berkeley 
Fire Department Station #2, 2029 Berkeley Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.  
Deadline: March 31.

5.  For Juniors, Saturday, February 19, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm – University 
of San Francisco Multicultural Junior Preview Day for African American, 
Latino and Native American high school juniors.  You must have a 
minimum GPA of 2.75 to participate.  Presentations on academics, 
majors, and eligibility requirements, campus tour, meetings with 
admissions counselors, etc.  Space is limited to 50 students.  
Applications available in the College Center.  Free.  Application 
deadline: February 9.

6.  SAT- February 7 is the regular registration deadline for the March 
12th SAT.  I am not recommending that juniors take this test in March, 
particularly students currently taking Algebra 2 and geometry, because 
I believe you will benefit from two more months of class time.  Please 
do not take it as a practice, because colleges will see all of your 
scores. ACT – March 4 is the regular registration deadline for the 
April 9 ACT tests.

7.  Juniors – Free SAT prep at Berkeley High School.  Wednesdays and 
Thursdays, 3:30 -5:30, starting February 21.  Room to be announced.  To 
enroll, send an email with your full name, school name and phone number 
to <register4ptps at yahoo.com> or call 510-642-4951.


Events/ Performance
1.  Want $20?  Come share your opinions about the health center and eat 
free food.  All students are welcome, including those who have never 
been to the health center.  Stop by the health center to sign up.

Sales

1.  Yearbooks are on sale for $65.00 in H102 every Tuesday and Thursday 
during lunch or zero period.
