Administration

1.	Attention all SENIORS: Are you interested in going on the SENIOR 
TRIP?  If so, please attend the MANDATORY informational meeting 
Wednesday, February 9th at lunch in the Little Theater.  If you have 
questions, check with Danielle Johnson, ASB president.

2.	JOB OPENING:  Student needed to do light clerical work.  Contact 
Debbie Taylor at <debbie at greatparents.net>;  $8 per hour.

Clubs
1.	Having sex?  Thinking about having sex?  Come to CONDOM CLUB at 
lunch in A205.  One meeting will get you a sticker on your ID that 
gives you 12 free condoms each week from the BHS Health Center.  
Remember, it’s quicker with stickers!

2.	Are you interested in the issues that surround the Asian- American 
community and would like to participate in the growing Asian – American 
Sociopolitical and Anti- Discriminatory movement?

3.	Come and join the I Wor Kuen (Pronounced EE WAR KWAN) at the first 
meeting on Wednesday, February 9, in G305, at lunch.  It is our goal to 
combat ANTI-ASIAN AMERICAN RACISM, and to advance our race both 
culturally and socially.

Sports
1.	All boys interested in going for the GOLF TEAM, please  call Coach 
Dang at 510-540-5738.  First day of practice is February 7 at Tilden 
Park at 4:00pm.

2.	BHS Baseball tryouts TODAY:  Freshman at Willard Middle School 6-8 
pm. All others at San Pablo Park 4-7 pm.  Players must have a completed 
athletic packet, including a physical exam, and at least a 2.0 semester 
GPA in order to try out.  Packets are available in the athletic office 
or in Mr. Moellering’s room, C128.

Senior / Junior Section
1.	College visits:
February 15, 2005
8:30 am DeVry University
(Offers associate degrees in electronics and computer technology, 
health  information technology and network systems administration; BA 
in biomedical fields, business administration, computers.  Sign up in 
the College/ Career Center.)

9:30 am        Western Career College and Silicon Valley College

March 1, 2005
10:35 am              Academy of Art
University (The representative will speak about undergraduate
programs as well as summer programs for high school students)


2.	Seniors- The representative from SF State will be in D221 on 
Wednesday, February 16 at lunchtime.  Please stop by see her if you 
have questions.If you still need to turn in your official transcript, 
you can give it to her at that time.

3.	Get help filing out your financial aid documents every Tuesday and 
Thursday in the College Center from 2:30 to 4:30.  No sign-ups are 
necessary.

4.	Scholarships for students interested in a career in public safety- 
fire service, emergency medical services.  Interested students should 
submit a one page statement for consideration to: Kevin White, Berkeley 
Fire Department Station #2, 2029 Berkeley Way, Berkeley, CA 94704.  
Deadline: March 31.

5.	For Juniors, Saturday, February 19, 8:30 am – 3:30 pm – University 
of San Francisco Multicultural Junior Preview Day for African American, 
Latino and Native American high school juniors.  You must have a 
minimum GPA of 2.75 to participate.  Presentations on academics, 
majors, and eligibility requirements, campus tour, meetings with 
admissions counselors,etc.  Space is limited to 50 students.  
Applications available in the College Center.  Free.  Application 
deadline: February 9.

6.	SAT- February 7 is the regular registration deadline for the March 
12th SAT.  I am not recommending that juniors take this test in March, 
particularly students currently taking Algebra 2 and geometry, because 
I
believe you will benefit from two more months of class time.  Please do 
not take it as a practice, because colleges will see all of your 
scores. ACT – March 4 is the regular registration deadline for the 
April 9 ACT
tests.

7.	Juniors – Free SAT prep at Berkeley High School.  Wednesdays and 
Thursdays, 3:30 -5:30, starting February 21.  Room to be announced.  To 
enroll, send an email with your full name, school name and phone number 
to register4ptps at yahoo.com or call 510-642-4951.


Events/ Performance
1.  Want $20?  Come share your opinions about the BHS Health Center and 
eat free food.  All students are welcome, including those who have 
never been  Health Center.  Stop by to sign up.

Sales

1.	Yearbooks are on sale for $65.00 in H102 every Tuesdays and 
Thursdays during lunch or zero period.
