7th Annual Bay Area High School Film and Video Festival
SUNDAY JANUARY 16
12:30pm, 3:00pm (two screenings)
Tickets: $5 students/$8 adults
Artists in Person
Have you ever wondered what goes on in the teenage mind? This festival
provides an opportunity to see a variety of movies produced and selected
by high school students. Recently expanded to include all of Northern
California, it showcases a youthful combination of wit, insight, emotion,
and originality. This exciting event, which continues to attract sellout
crowds from around the Bay Area, features a diverse array of works,
including documentaries, music videos, narratives, experimental videos,
and public service announcements. A handout listing all the selections
will be available at the festival. Discussion with the filmmakers will
follow each screening.-The Curators
Curated and presented by Berkeley High students in the Communications Arts
and Sciences Program, in collaboration with the ArtsBridge Scholars
program of the Consortium for the Arts at UC Berkeley and the Pacific Film
Archive. The student curators are Kadhja Bonet, Nikki Bonilla, Natalia
Casella, Aaron Jones, Emily Juarez, Joanna Poz-Molesky, Sara Shor, Arianna
Taboada, Cilau Valadez, and Dante Williams, with assistance from High
School Student Mentors Sasha Flamm and Jonah Tabb. Their ArtsBridge Mentor
is Kim V. Smith and BHS teacher is Dharini Rasiah. (Total running
time: c. 90 mins plus discussion)
