Administration
1.    Reminder:  Wednesday, December 8, is a late start day.  There will be
no zero period.  The "late start" bell schedule is below:

01 / 10 to 10:40
02 / 10:46 to 11:30
Lunch 11:30 -12:10
03 / 12:16 - 12:56
04 / 1:03 - 1:43
05 / 1:49 - 2:29
06 / 2:35 - 3:15
07 / 3:21 - 4:01

2.    NEW or REPLACEMENT photo IDs will be at lunch on Wednesday and
Thursday Starting in January, it will also be possible to have picture IDs
taken on Wednesday before school from 8 to 8:25 AM.

Clubs
1.    CAS Presents: Berkeley High Poetry Slam on Wednesday, December 15th.
Slam begins at 7:00 pm in G210.  $1 donation at the door will cover.  Sign
up to read, 6:30 pm.  Have two poems ready in case you make round 2.

2.    Anyone who had Ms. Green 2nd semester of last year 2nd or 6th period –
please report to Ms. Green’s room in C224 Tuesday, December 7th at lunch.

3.    Are you an aspiring table tennis player who is looking for
competition or are you a casual ping pong player looking to have fun?  Come
join us at lunch on Tuesday, December 7 for the first meeting of the BHS
Table Tennis Club.  We will be meeting in the upper floor of the old gym.

4.    Hey!  It's Chanukah!  Come play dreidle with the JSU on Thursday!
We're having a meeting on Thursday at lunch in G212 (Mr. Delp's room).
Stop by and say "Shalom."

5.    Help the world!  Come to Building with Books Club in G212 at lunch
today.

6.    Quiz bowl meeting in C316.  Please come to a meeting.  A great deal of
fun.  Meeting will be this Friday, December 10th.

7.    Come to the first meeting of the A Cappella Club today at lunch in the
(Choral Room - A5) in the A building.

8.    Work experience class on Tuesday at lunch in C317.

Sports
1.    Hey Soccer fans: did you know that the Frosh-Soph Boys Soccer team
played this weekend?  The Yellowjackets defeated Deer Valley by a score
of 3-0 and then beat Liberty High by a score of 6-0.  The Frosh-Soph
Boy's Soccer team is now 4-1-0.  GO Jackets!

Senior Section 
1.    Financial Aid Night for SENIOR PARENTS is Tuesday, December 7,
6:30-8:30 p.m. in the Berkeley High School Library, second floor of the new
building.  A representative of the UC Berkeley Financial Aid office will
walk us through the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).

2.    It's not too late to apply to many Cal State Campuses!  The following
campuses are still accepting applications:  Cal Maritime, Bakersfield,
Channel Islands, Dominguez Hills, Fresno, Fullerton (engineering, computer
science and communications majors only),  Hayward, Los Angeles, Monterey
Bay, Northridge, Sacramento, San Bernardino, Stanilaus, Humboldt, San
Francisco State (except for majors in nursing, radio & TV, cinema, apparel
design & merchandising, and interior design), and San Jose State.  Please
see Ms. Abrams in D221 if you would like help in filling out an
application. 

3.    Seniors: if you would like to meet with the College Advisor there are
appointments now available.  Go to D221 to sign up.

4.    Hispanic Scholarship Fund: $1,000 - $2,500.  Must be a high school
senior, US citizen or permanent resident of Hispanic heritage with a
minimum GPA of 3.0.  Applications available in the College Center or at
http://www.hsf.net/scholarship/programs/hs.php.

5.    Senior reminder!  Please pick up your early graduation petition forms
from the Registrar's office or the Counseling Center.   Make sure they are
completely filled ou, by the counselor and your parent.  They are due
back at the Registrar's office by December 10th.

                   
Events/ Performance
1.    Don't be losers: come see the Berkeley High Band and Orchestra
perform on Thursday, December 9, starting at 7:30 p.m. in the Community
Theater.  Admission is free so come and be intellectually titillated by
the music of Schubert and Persnickety.


Sales
1.  Yearbooks are on sale for $60.00.  Go to H102 at lunch.
