Have you ever wondered what would motivate a woman to change her gender? The
film is an eloquent documentary about this subject. Conventional ideas about
gender are deconstructed through complicated yet tender stories. This film
is a profound, thought-provoking,compelling, honest and entertaining
portrait of six men who were born as women (female to male transsexuals).

In 75 minutes, this 1996 film by Northern Light Productions illuminates the
human side of this unusual journey for personal identity. These six women
have lived within bodies they don't accept, have tried to adapt to social
expectations they can't fulfill, and have experienced devastating personal
pain that cannot be obscured by denial. An intricate and innovative
weaving of interviews, personal testimonials, recollections of friends and
family, and recordings of familial outings, "You Don't Know Dick" is a
riveting film.

This film contains some discussion of sexuality and is intended for high
school and adult audiences only.
