SAT/ACT TEST DATES: - Friday, October 29 is the regular registration 
deadline for the December 4 SAT I and II tests.  Friday, November 5 is 
the regular registration deadline for the
December 11 ACT test.  These are the last recommended tests for the 
UC’s and Cal States.

WRITING COMPETITION – Bennington College Young Writers Awards for 
fiction, poetry and plays.  Entry forms available in the College Center 
or at www.bennington.edu under News & Events.  Deadline:  December 1.

 From October 21-23, Princeton Review is offering free feedback on an 
SAT essay.  Go to

SCHOLARSHIPS
Gates Millennium Scholarship – This scholarship covers the cost of 
attendance of an undergraduate education.  Students are eligible if 
they are African American, American Indian, Asian Pacific Islander 
American or Hispanic American, are a citizen or permanent resident, 
have a GPA of 3.3 or above, have demonstrated leadership abilities and 
are low income.  Applications are available in the College Center or at 
www.gmsp.org.  Deadline – January 14, 2005.

Association of Africans and African-Americans - $1,000 scholarship.

Iota Phi Lambda Sorority Annual American Education Week Essay Contest.

ESSAY READERS – Essay readers will be here every day this week at 8:00

UC/CSU Application Workshops: All workshops will be in the library 
computer lab. You must sign up in advance in D221 as there are a 
limited number of computers available.  The schedule is as follows:
TODAY - Friday, October 22, 7:30 a.m.
Wednesday, October 27, 7:30 a.m.
More in November, but don’t wait until the last minute!

To attend the workshops, you must have a Berkeley High user name and 
password. If you have not signed into the BHS computer system this year 
with your user name and password, come to D221 for more information at 
least two days before the workshop.
