Administration
1. Attention BHS staff: Show your school spirit and dress up for spirit
week! Let's show the students we have school spirit as well! This Monday
put on your favorite 60s / 70s gear!
2. Bart tickets are here. Please pick your ticket up in the Parent Resource
Center.
3. BSEP Meeting will be held Tuesday, October 19th, 4:30-6:00 p.m.
4. Attention Staff: We are looking for a "boom box" that was ordered by a
BHS staff person, and received in August. If you know its whereabouts,
please contact the front office ASAP.
5. Lost: If anyone has found a set of keys on a black and white neck key
chain, please turn them into the Parent Resource Center.
6. The PSAT will be given this Saturday, October 16th. Report to the garden
between the C building and the Donahue Gym at 8 a.m. for your room
assignment. Remember to bring your photo ID, a calculator and several #2
pencils. Parking around BHS may be limited because there are lots of alumni
activities at the University this weekend in connection with the football
game. We recommend coming on public transportation.
7. Will you be 18 years old by Election Day, November 2? The Berkeley High
School Library and the American Library Association urge you to exercise
your citizen rights and be a part of democracy in action. Come to the BHS
Library in D226 to pick up a bookmark with information about registering to
vote online, Do it now! The deadline to register is October 15. We have an
election souvenir for first four people who ask.
Clubs
1. Quiz Bowl Kids: Please come to an informational meeting about the quiz
bowl. You will have fun and play in a Jeopardy- style fashion.

3. Any club who wants to represent itself at the Club Fair on October 20th
should see Mrs. Ivery McKnight-Johnson in C400. Don't forget it's Wacky
Tacky Day, all clubs must dress for the day to participate.
3. The first meeting of the Insomnia Club will be on Tuesday, October 19th.
We will discuss issues about the importance of sleep and elect officers for
the club. The meeting will be held in the library. Please eat before you
come in.
5. Hey Students! The BSU is hosting a 60s / 70s day Soul Food celebration
on Monday, October 18th at lunch in the Courtyard. Come join us in dancing,
music, food, and getting funky!
6. Earphone English meeting today in C116 during the first half of lunch.
Come chat and check out the new audio books.
7. Opera Club! Last one of the season. Tosca, October 19, tickets $30.
See Mr. Ayers to reserve a ticket in C327.
8. CSF forms are now available in the College/Career Center! If you are new
to the program, please come to an informational meeting at lunch on October
18th.
Sports
1. The BHS Football is undefeated in League! They travel to Pinole today:
4:30 JV and 7:00 Varsity. Everyone must bring an ID. Good luck Jackets!
2. Good luck to the Cross Country team who travel to this Saturday to
compete in the Mariner Invitational.
3. Girls' Golf is currently undefeated in League. They compete against
Skyline High School next Tuesday. Good luck.
Senior Section
1. Seniors: If you will be 18 by February 3, register to vote now! Pick up
registration form at the BHS Main office.
2. Senior Packets go on sell today at lunchtime and everyday until Friday.
Come to the senior steps each day at lunch. Packets are $25. Cash only.
Seniors interested in earning $80.00? What about the upcoming
Presidential Election? If so, please come to C406 and sign up to be a
poll worker in your voting precinct. See Mrs. McKnight-Johnson right away.

Events/ Performance
1. Homecoming is coming: October 22, 2004! Wear Red and Gold and show your
school spirit, safely. Remember, in order to attend or participate in the
rally or to enter the Homecoming Dance on Saturday, October 23rd, you must
have an Activities Contract signed by you and your parents on file with Ms.
McKnight-Johnson.

Sales
1. Asian Pacific Islander committee bake sale on Friday. Come to the
courtyard and have some yummy treats.
2. Attention all Juniors! Get ready for SPIRIT WEEK. Buy this year's
spirit packet (and last year's spirit items) in the courtyard at lunch today
and tomorrow. Cash only.
3. Attention Sophomores! Buy your packets today and next week until
Thursday. $20 cash only.
