    SHELLMOUND by AndrŽs Cediel
Few people at the Bay Street shopping center in Emeryville, CA, realize
they are walking on a burial ground thousands of years old, steeped in a
century of toxic sludge. When construction crews began building in 1999,
they were prepared to handle lead and arsenic pollution from an old factory.
But plans hit a snag when skeletons began appearing in the backhoe debris.

THE RULES OF THE GAME by Garance Burke & Monica Lam
What happens when an Indian tribe's dreams of casino profits clash with
small town values? The Federated Indians of Graton Rancheria want to build a
casino in Rohnert Park, CA, on land that once belonged to their ancestors.
But many current residents dispute whether the history of the land should
determine its future. (2004, 26:30, digital video)
