STUDENT DAILY BULLETIN
September 16, 2004

Administration

1.    Mr. Juarez needs proctors for periods 1-5.  Please see him in room
C127.

2.    Attention Ladies of BHS "Speak on It" is back every Thursday at lunch.
Come talk about issues you are concerned with:  relationships, stress,
parents, etc.  Lunch served, and bring a friend.  For more information
contact Shannon Banks at 644-6928.

3.    The Berkeley High School Site Council needs four student
representatives and at least four alternates.  This is a school
policy-making group that also includes parents, teachers and the school
principal.  You can pick up an application to run from Ms. McKnight- Johnson
in D142.  They will be due this Friday, September 17th.  The election will
be on October 1st.  If you will be running, please attend the first SSC
meeting on Tuesday, September 28 at 4:30 in room D219.

4.    ASB Student Government meeting on Wednesday, September 22nd in C400.
All ASB officers must attend.


Clubs
1.    Do you want to help lower the voting age and become politically
active? Then come to the Progressive Club meeting Thursday at lunch in room
H208. Free snacks are provided.  See ya there!

2.    All freshmen interested in running for a student government position,
please pick up an application from Ms. McKnight- Johnson in D124.  It is due
this Friday, September 17th.

3.    Applications for Health Center Youth Advisors are available now.
Applications are due Thursday, September 16th at the Health Center.

4.    Thursday, September 16th is your last chance to turn in an application
at the Health Center to be a Peer Health Educator.  If you want to make a
difference in your community by keeping Berkeley's teen birth rate low and
by helping reduce the spread of HIV, then apply now!

5.    What do you think of the Health Center?  Do you have ideas about to
make the Health Center run better?  Become apart of the Youth Advisory
Board and have your ideas be heard!  Pick up an application at the Health
Center and return it by 9/16.

6.    Do you want to teach your fellow students about sexual health?  If so,
apply to be a peer educator. Applications are available in the Health
Center and must be turned in by September 16th.  Stop in and pick one up
or come in to get more information.

Sports
1.    Lunchtime basketball in the Jacket Gym located in the D building (new
building).  Students may check out a basketball from Mrs. Parker, who is
located in the Parent Resource room in the Food Court (next to the
counseling offices).  Questions? See Ms. Bennett Vice Principal.



3.    Girls Water Polo Tournament this Friday and Saturday in the BHS
Competition Pool.  Admission fee $2 for everyone.  Kids under 5 free.

4.    First home Football game this Friday: come see the undefeated Jackets
compete against Foothill High School.  JV at 4:30pm and Varsity at 7:00
pm.  Adults $5/ Students $3.  Everyone must have an ID to purchase and to
enter the game.  BHS faculty and staff enter free with BHS ID.  Go jackets!

5.    Register by September 28th for HS Girls Fall Ball hosted by BOP
Lacrosse, on six Sunday afternoons October 3 - Nov. 7 from 1:30 - 4:30, at
BHS and Bishop O'Dowd.  Don't miss out on the fun!  Registration packets
are available in the Athletic Director's office.

Senior Section
1.    Upcoming College visits - sign up in the College Center
September 20, 2004 
8:30 am - College of the Atlantic
9:30 am -  Beloit (WI)

2.    Senior Parent Night - Monday, September 20, 6:30 pm in the College
Career Center.

Events/ Performance
1.    Beginning Breaking classes on Thursdays from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at
Ashkenaz in 1317 San Pablo Ave.  at Gilman in Berkeley.

Sales
1.    You may purchase PE uniforms in the Girl's Gym.  Shorts $10, T-shirts
$10, Sweat shirts and sweatpants are $15.
