How to run for School Site Council or BSEP

Please share this information with anyone you know who may be
interested.

Parent representatives to the School Site Council (SSC) and Berkeley
Schools Excellence Project (BSEP) site committee will be elected at the
first PTSA meeting on Thursday, Sept. 9, at 7 p.m. in the Little
Theater. All parents are encouraged to consider running for these very
important committees (staff and student representatives are elected by their
own peer groups). There are four seats on the SSC and five seats on the
BSEP committee to be filled plus alternates for each committee. Both
committees seek parent representatives from all segments of the BHS
parent/guardian community.

Persons wishing to run for election to one of these committees should,
before Tuesday, Sept. 7, send an email message to the etree manager
bhs-owner at idiom.com OR a written message marked ATTN:PTSA/Elections to the
BHS office specifying their name, contact information and the committee they
are running for.

All candidates declaring themselves by the method above will have their
names posted on the etree on 9/7 and their names will appear on the ballot
at the 9/9 meeting. Others may declare themselves as write-in candidates at
the 9/9 meeting; write-in candidates must be present or send a written
statement affirming their candidacy. All candidates present will have 1
minute to introduce themselves verbally to the meeting.

Persons wanting more information about SSC or BSEP can contact their
respective 03/04 chairs: SSC Claudia Wilken at
bhssitecouncil at berkeley.k12.ca.us or by phone (510) 486-8013 / BSEP
Mary Reiter at Reiters at aol.com .
