Administration
1. Friday, May 28: Last day to turn in the Senior Exit report to the
College/Career Center if you would like to have your future plans printed
in the senior edition of the Jacket.
2. Friday, May 28: Last day to turn in a Transcript Request Form to Ms.
Mellion in D173 so that we can send an official transcript to the school
you will be attending in the fall. Write in capital letters across the
top "FINAL TRANSCRIPT" and paperclip it to a stamped business size
envelope addressed to the college. Use Berkeley High School as the return
address. If you are under 18, please remember to have a parent/guardian
sign the request form.
3. Are you interested in taking AP Spanish Literature next year? If so,
you must attend one of the two lunchtime meeting, to be held on this
Wednesday and Thursday, May 26 and May 27th in C125 from 11:45 a.m. to
12:00 Noon. Please see Senor Lobo in C125 if you cannot attend.
4. If you are planning to take a math class other than at Berkeley High
over the summer, you need to take a placement test at BHS. You must
register ahead of time. See Ms. Bodenhausen in H109 or send her an email.
5. "Different Lenses, Different Voices," A collaborative photography and
poetry exhibit created by Lucinda Daly's Photography, Myron Berkman's
English, and Gabe Winer's Composition classes is on view in the BHS Art
Gallery (H112) through Friday, May 28th. Open at lunch and by appointment
for teachers to bring their classes.
6. SUMMER SCHOOL applications are finally here! Come to the
Administration office, or the Counselors office to pick one up!
7. This month's meeting of the BHS School Site Council will be held on
Tuesday, May 25, from 4:30-6 p.m. in D219. On the agenda will be
approval of the Single Plan for Student Achievement and the Safety Plan,
and a discussion of the 10th grade counseling program, academic
probation, and distribution of the Berkeley Schools Now grant to BHS. All
members please attend.
8. Yearbook distribution begins June 1. Check around campus for flyers
with complete details. You must have your receipt and a photo ID to pick
up your yearbook! If you lost your receipt, duplicates can be purchased
for $5 at lunch on May 27 or May 28 in H102.
Clubs
1. Club Day 2004 will be held on May 27th. All BHS clubs should
participate in this lunchtime activity. Contact Pali Jen, the Club
Commissioner ASAP.
Sports
1. All students interested in running cross country next fall, come to an
informational meeting, Wednesday 5/26 at lunch in H213 or talk to Coach
Goodrich in H213.
2. Over the weekend of May 8th and 9th the BHS mens and womens Crew
competed in the Southwest Regionals. On the mens side, the lightweight 4
won gold, while the lightweight 8 got silver medals. Both qualified for
the Nationals in Cincinnati, Ohio. Also, the Frosh mens 8 made the
finals, as did the JV 4. The JV 4 placed 5th. On the womens side, the
womens frosh 8 and 4 made finals with the womens 4 taking the silver
medal.
Senior Section
1. Thursday, June 3: Last day to turn in the Senior Exit report to the
College/Career Center (if you did not do so in time for the Jacket
deadline) so that you can get your graduation tickets.
2. SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY: Participate in the Awards Assembly to be held
on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 p.m. Pick up a form in the College/ Career
Center to let us know about the honors and scholarships you have received.
Deadline: May 11.
Events/ Performance
1. Solano Stroll is Sunday, September 12. Applications are due June 1
for Entertainers and August 1st for organizations. They're available
online at http://www.solanostroll.org
2. Hey kids! Wanna have fun? Then Geddup and ride w/ glory to our Film
Festival! Come celebrate the 5th Annual BHS Film and Video festival,
compiled entirely of student work. There will be refreshments, raffles
and prizes for everyone! Bring your friends and family. May 27, 2004 at
the Little Theater. See Ms. Rasiah in G108B if you would like to submit
your work.
Sales
1. There will be a KEY CLUB bake sale today at lunch in the courtyard.
Come help support Pediatric Trauma Prevention and enjoy our tasty treats.
2. Yearbooks are still on sale for $65 in H102 during zero period every
day and at lunch on Thursday, May 20 and Friday May 28th. Don't wait until
they are here; price goes up to $70 on June 2nd.
3. Senior Prom tickets on sale everyday for $70. Prices go up $5 every
week so buy your tickets today! Last day of sales is Friday, May 28th -
NO Later! Remember you must turn in your contracts and library books to
attend prom!
