Administration

1.    The Library will be closed Friday, May 14, for testing.

2.    Some fascinating reads for the voracious readers among you - a short
list: I thought My Father Was God and Other True Tales for NPRs National
Story Project, The Botany of Desire, a wildly praised UC Professor's look
at the plant's eye view of the world, for those who love to read about
heart stopping, near death experiences, Inside the Nation of Islam, and
Seabiscuit, the story of an American horse racing legend.

3.    The BHS Library and its new computer lab are open before school, after
school and during lunch without a pass; and the rest of the day with
passes.  Please come visit us and bring your overdue books at the same
time!

4.    All students and staff planning to donate blood at the Red Cross Blood
Drive on Monday, May 17th, please follow these instructions:

1)    Eat a healthy breakfast and avoid caffeine.
2)    Sign up Friday in the courtyard at lunch with Buddy the Blood Drop

Free hats to all donors - sign up today!

5.    The BHS Student Library Advisory will meet on Wednesday, May 19th at
lunch.  Please bring any completed book review blurbs.

6.    The 8th annual Jazz on the 4th Street Jazz Festival will take place
Sunday, May 16th.  Berkeley High Jazz Combos start their warm up at 11:15
and the BHS jazz Ensemble plays at 4:00 p.m.  Great music and good food!

7.    Juniors: If you would like to be one of the MC's at the Senior Awards
Ceremony on May 25th, sign up in the College/Career Center.

8.    JUNIORS -FREE SUMMER TEST PREP- People’s Test Preparation Service.
Session I - Mon/Wed, 2-6pm. beginning June 28;
Session II - Tuesday/Thursday, 2-6pm. beginning June 29th.  All classes held
at UC Berkeley.  Call 510-642-4951 and leave a message including your name,
grade, high school, phone number and session preference. You can email
summerptps at yahoo.com to register.

9.    AP Exams: AP Test Lost and Found.  If you took an AP test and left
your calculator, student ID, water bottle, or sweatshirt, stop by the Green

Clubs
1.    Chicano Latino Graduation meeting in Ms. Taylor's class room in C124.

2.    Hey Kickballers!  Come today, Thursday the 13th, to play kickball out
on the softball field at lunch.  Get ready for our upcoming games against
Piedmont!  New players are welcomed!

3.    Come to Science-Fiction Club every Friday at lunch in C213.

4.    Come join the Paradigms of Postmodernism Club, Tuesday at lunch in
H105.  The topic of discussion will be great works of the 21st Century.

5.    Raza, wanna learn more about your history?  Wanna create a
Xicano/Latino department?  Come to the Raza Club meeting today at lunch in
conference room B.

6.    Attention CSF members!  Turn in all late tutoring and registration
forms in the SLC by Friday, May 14th.  Absolutely no late forms will be
accepted after Friday, May 14th.

7.    Earphone English- meets today at lunch in C116.

Sports 
1.  Boys Lacrosse beat Las Lomas 15-0 and Girls Lacrosse beat Bishop
O’Dowd 12-6 today.  Both teams advance to the semi-final game on Thursday
at home.  Game times will likely be 4:30 and 6:00.  $2 for students, and
$5 adults.  Come on out and support the Lacrosse teams.

Senior Section
1.    UC Riverside has a Guaranteed Acceptance Program (GAP).  If you have a
minimum 3.5 UC grade point average (10th and 11th grade classes in UC
approved courses) and a minimum SAT score of 1000 or ACT of 22, you are
eligible for the program.  The applications are in the College Center.

2.    SENIOR AWARDS ASSEMBLY: Participate in the Awards Assembly to be held
on Tuesday, May 25th at 7:00 pm.  Pick up a form in the College/ Career
Center to let us know about the honors and scholarships you have received.
Deadline: May 11.

3.    AUDITIONS:  Want to perform at the 2004 BHS graduation?  This year,
the ceremony will showcase many talented BHS seniors.  Sign up to speak, or
perform in the administration office.  Auditions will be held on May 13th.

Events/ Performance
1.    The Essence of Movement- The Afro Haitian Dance classes will perform,
Friday, May 14, 2004 at 7:00 p.m. in the BHS Community Theatre.  Tickets:
Reserved - Adults - $7, Students - $5 and children/Seniors - $3;

2.    10th Annual Career Fair: Thursday, May 13, 2004: 9 am to 12 noon at
the Berkeley Adult School.  Please call 644-8968 for more information.  Meet
employers, get job leads, and obtain employment information.

Sales
1.    Senior Prom tickets on sale everyday for $60.  Prices go up $5 every
week so buy your tickets today!  Last day of sales is Friday, May 28th –
NO Later!  Remember you must turn in your contracts and library books to
attend prom!
