*Linda Tillery* is a Grammy-nominated vocalist, percussionist, producer,
educator, and cultural historian whose career spans more than five decades.
A founding member of Bobby McFerrin’s Voicestra, Tillery later expanded her
artistic focus toward African diasporic vocal traditions, percussion,
improvisation, and historical research. During the 1970s and 1980s, Tillery
established herself as a distinctive solo artist and became an important
presence in the Bay Area’s R&B, jazz, and Women’s Music communities. Her
solo recording *Linda Tillery* received a Bay Area Music Award for Best
Independently Produced Album, and she was twice honored as Outstanding
Female Vocalist at the Bay Area Jazz Awards.
